Advantages: lovely location - nice scenery

Disadvantages: Uphill to the town

The Copthorne in Newcastle is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are totally massive and all rooms have a fantastic view of the River Tyne with its wonderful bridges. The downside is that if you are walking into the City centre it is all uphill and a steep one at that. The hotel is really well decorated and the breakfasts are first class. There are lots of lovely bars and restaurants nearby along the river to enjoy dinner and a drink while taking in the excellent views. The hotel is a 4 star which in my opinion is well deserved it is perfect for a romantic break or just for a treat. They have a heatlh spa as well where loads of treatments and gym equipment can be used. The only bad thing about the heatlh side of things is that you can see the swimming pool from the outside of the hotel!! The staff were all really friendly and helped whenever they could. the beds were so comfortable is hard to get out of it in the mornings :)

Summary: Recommended for a romantic break
