Advantages: Good for ferry

Disadvantages: Decor, staff, location on the road

The County Hotel's, grim, concrete block, looms high above Dover's grey and tired streets. It is one to avoid at all costs.

The rooms are cheap (they start at £49) and safe at-least, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they where clean - and they certainly don't "Boast tasteful decor" as stated on there website. The reception is gloomy, the restaurant is DIRE, the staff are tired and don't want to be there.

The hotel is situated on a busy main road, which is used by a lot of heavy and noisy trucks - the windows are double glazed but it doesn't stop the rumble coming through.

This is ideal if you get of the ferry late, and just want somewhere cheap to sleep for 7 hours (if you can bare the cheap, hard mattresses) but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wanted to explore the south east coast.
