Crowne Plaza Heidleberg Germany

I stayed here for a week in August with my company.

rooms -

My room was a Queen suite with 2 double beds, a huge bathroom stocked daily with fresh smellies - shampoo, body cream, soap, shower cap, sewing kit, and show polish. You can also request items you may have forgotten; toothbrush, toothpaste, comb etc (I am crap at packing and always forget something).

Although it is Germany, there is also a UK plug socket in the room so no problem if you forget your Euro adaptor.

The mini bar is an unbelievable 6 euros for its entire contents. 6 euros for all of it, not each item, all of it! - peanuts, still and sparkling waters, diet coke, normal coke, wine, beer and chocolate. And being on a corperate week we have a rle of always emptying the mini bar!

There is an iron and ironing board, large TV, large double wardrobe, and extra pillows and blankets.

Room service is available 24 hrs but from the menu it is only tomato soup you can get 24 hrs, the other food is up till about 11pm.

The rooms are immaculate and the bedding is changed daily, as well as the smellies, but also fresh chocolate and biscuits are placed on the bed side table.

The restaurant -

The restaurant was so amazing that you could easily put on 3 stone a week. It is a self service buffet but with every type of food imaginable. - a full cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, salad, even gherkins for gods sake! cereals, yoghurt, honey/jams, boiled potatoes, boiled sausages (big ones also), all types of european breakfasts

Plenty of fruit juices to choose from, milk, hot drinks, latte, plain coffee, black tea, fruit tea, macchiato - anything and everything

the bar - the bar is small yet very friendly with plenty of seating. The evening meals are taken in the bar area as it has a seperate dining area. The menu choice is fantastic and the servings are very ample at a very good price - around 15 euros for a huge main meal.

For smokers, naturally the hotel is non smoking but there is a cigarrette machine - be careful here as you need to obtain some sort of 'tabak carte' (swipe card) from the chap behind the bar to prevent kids from buying fags. Failing that, go outside the back of the hotel, cross the road to the right is a corner street bar where you can buy cigs.

staff - the staff are superb, incredibly friendly at even at 2am nothing is too much trouble for them. They are professional and take their customers seriously.


Also you can get a Wyndhams rewards card that allow you to collect pints for staying in hotels, this hotel give reward points also.


It is very clean and beautifully decorated inside and out.

spa/gym/pool - I didnt venture into here as I was on a works jolly, but other colleagues did, from what they told me is that the pool/spa/gym area is second to none. And is very luxorious. Indded have a google for the hotel and see the pics, its beautiful.

Heidleberg itself is fantastic, the castle, the town, the restaurants - everything!!


prices -

I dont know exactly how much the rooms are, I bunged it on the company credit card so didnt care. But I think for 7 nights, including breakfast everyday, the entire contents of the mini bar and some evening meals and quite a few drinks - my bill came to around £600. Which for what I got was great.

The only downside is that they allow pets to stay on the rooms, and I had flea bites that week. Clearly from previous customers and their bloody pets.

Other than that the place is utterly spotless and I would highly recommend it.

Summary: Fantastic, beautiful and worth every penny that I didnt spend!
