Disadvantages: lower floors may overlook rail line

If you are planning a break in Toronto may I recommend the Crowne Plaza on Front Street.
The hotel is well placed to access all the major attractions that the city has to offer, and being part of the International ?Bass Group? of hotels you can be sure that your accommodation will be of a fine standard.

Standing near to the CN Tower, within the entertainment district of the city and steps from Union station, this high rise modern building is a blend of smart style with an air of refinement.

Upon arriving you will either be greeted by the friendly doormen at the main entrance, or if you drive to the hotel yourself you will be directed to the underground parking area where if required a valet will park for you and will direct you from the lower lobby to the main reception area via an escalator.

The main lobby is a mix of marble and polished brass and there are large comfy sofas for guests to relax on. To the left on entering is a large glassed ?conservatory featuring real trees. This houses an all day bistro. The concierge desk is located near the reception and they will assist with all your needs to ensure you have a great stay. There is wheelchair access to the main desk area.

Check in is usually fast, and if requested help can be given to transfer luggage to your room.
There are several elevators accessing all floors.

Rooms at the Crowne Plaza are spacious, for a larger room try and ask for a room number ending in 01, these are corner rooms. There are 587 guest rooms, including junior and deluxe suites.

Our accommodation featured 2 double beds, seemingly standard for North America, en-suite bath with over shower and complimentary toiletries, and there also was a hairdryer.
Large TV with in-house movies, 2 comfy arm chairs, table and desk with phone. A ?mini? basket of confectionery was provided though these had to be paid for.. very tempting! There was a coffee machine in each room
with free coffee/powdered milk etc. Iron and board. Complimentary newspapers were delivered weekday mornings.

There are 2 main views from the rooms, either a city view, self explanatory, or a Tower/lake view. On the couple of times I?ve been I got a tower view. The large windows of the room gave great views and I?d sit for ages just watching the lifts going up and down the CN tower (its not close enough for people in the lifts to you though)! I was on the 25th and 18th floors.

On each landing is an ice vending area. There is room service and laundry service.

If you wish to relax in a pool or be energetic in the gym the Crowne Plaza can help. There is a spa, sauna, and a medium sized pool which has a glassed roof, from the pool area you can go onto an outside decked area which has chairs, tables etc.
There is also a well equipped gym and a squash court.

Dining at the hotel was in the Accolade restaurant, smart but casual dress. Great food!

In the lower lobby you will find a small shop selling items such as newspapers, confectionery, souvenirs and selected toiletries which you may have forgotten to pack!

All in all my stay at Crowne Plaza was enjoyable, it made a perfect base for touring the city and was near some fine dining areas, theatres and the attractions of the CN Tower and the Skydome.

1maryanne - this opinion is on the hotel alone hence the section it's under. If you look under the Toronto City Guide section you'll find Indyjo's written a very good city review.
