Advantages: Worth paying extra for the advantages of the Empire State Club

Disadvantages: Pool not really suitable for families

Myself, husband and five year old daughter stayed at the New York Hotel, Disneyland Paris in March of 2009. This was our third visit to Disneyland Paris, and we have stayed at a different hotel each time.

We were booked into the Empire State Club for four nights. The Empire State Club is basically an exclusive club which gives you various benefits. It does cost a bit extra, but in my opinion it is worth it.

What you get extra is, exclusive check -in (worth it at busy times) free tea and coffee, soft drinks and cakes and biscuits etc all day in the Empire State Club Lounge. Breakfast is also served in the Empire State Club Lounge. This lounge seats probably about 20 families, so you never have to wait for breakfast. Also every morning you will get character appearances, and they actually spend alot of time with each family. Pluto spent a good 10-15 minutes with my daughter, chasing her and even picking her up!!

But, the best bit about the Empire State Club, is that you get a VIP fastpass, which gets you onto all the fastpass rides without queueing. This is definately worth paying extra for alone as the queues as Disney during busy periods can be an hour or more long.

The Hotel itself is in the style of New York scyscrapers and is quite large. On arrival we were given an upgrade to a Lake View Room, which was lovely as obviously it overlooks the lake, and also during the winter months, the ice skating rink (which we tried out, around 12E each and great fun!!!)
The room had two large beds, large sliding doored wardrobe, dressing table, and tv cabinet with mni bar, (which we didn't use).
The bathroom had double sinks and a bath with shower over, and there was always plenty of hot water with good pressure.

We were more than happy with the standard of the rooms, they were clean and spacious. The maid service was good, and every evening there was a turn down service with gold coins left on the pillows.

The only food we ate at the Hotel was at breakfast time which was of a good standard, and consisted of hot food - eggs, bacon potato fritters, also ham cheese and rolls etc, cereals and plently of fresh fruit and fresh fruit juice and tea and coffee, so plenty of choice.

The Hotel does have a swimming pool, but its not really suitable for small children who can't swim as its 5ft deep all over, so I myself couldn't stand properly in it. It was OK for my husband whos 6ft so he had to help our daughter, although there were plently of arm bands and floats at the side of the pool.

Overall I would highly recommend this Hotel, its clean and modern, and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

As we experienced the Empire State Club, I can't comment on the level of service for standard bookings or the standard restaurant for breakfast.

We will definately book this Hotel again and use the Empire State Club, because the VIP fastpass is priceless.

Summary: Great Hotel - can't wait to return next year
