Advantages: Disney characters, extra magic hours

Disadvantages: Can be expensive

I stayed in the Hotel New York in June 2009 with my husband and two sons, aged 3 and nine months. We paid extra for a lake view room which was really lovely, with the added bonus that my three year old was fascinated by the giant balloon ("Panoramagique") that we could see from the window. The room had two double beds, plus plenty of space for the cot (we brought our own but the hotel will happily provide one). It was smartly decorated and kept very clean, as you'd expect from a 4 star hotel.

The hotel is about as close as it could be to the Disney Village, but due to the scale of the resort it still took a surprisingly long time to walk to the gates of the Disneyland Park - about 20 minutes marching it out with the double buggy!

The Disney characters tend to do a "Meet & Greet" at breakfast time, which is a nice touch. The boys were delighted to meet Minnie Mouse and Goofy! Another benefit of staying in an official Disney hotel is the "extra magic hours" (ie time in the parks before the crowds) which really is worth it.

Overall we had a brilliant stay, and I'd definitely recommend the hotel.
