Advantages: The theme is really well done throughout, The swimming pool
Disadvantages: Problems on arrival
The Disneyland Paris Newport Bay Club Hotel is set out, with the style of yaught clubs and seaside themes running throughout. The hotel itself is extremely well presented and all area's within it have a nautical theme such as Admiral's floor and Captains bar. I stayed at this hotel in December 2006 and my stay did not begin with the best of starts.
I had chosen to stay on the Admirals floor with a lake side view (both of which you are charged extra for) and on arrival my room was not ready. We waited for a few hours for our room and when we got there our non-smoking room had the distinct smell of smoke running through it. I approached reception were after a few staff members I was handed to someone very useful and he had the problem dealt with very quickly. As this was the second problem with the room i.e. not ready on time and the smell of smoke the gentleman gave us an upgrade for breakfast to the Captains Bar which (I did not know this was available as you cannot purchase this) is reserved for suites and regular visitors.
The breakfast in this room more than made up for the initial problems I had as it is a very cosy room that had help if you needed it, for example there was no apple juice for my wife who was happy to go without but when the staff noticed they went to the other breakfast room to get some. The main advantage of this room though was that there waas no time slot to turn up for breakfast as you just arrived when you were ready.
The rooms themselves (apart from the initail smell) were extremely clean and are given a nautical theme also, they are of adequate size with two double beds and the bathroom comes with the usual disney complements of free shampoo and shower gel etc.
The hotel is located on lake disney at the opposite end of the lake to the large ballon. It is about a 12 minute walk from the hotel to the park entrance which takes you through the disney villiage, but there is also a bus service for those who wish to use it. (but most don't as it's a nice walk). The room we had was very well located being in the centre of the hotel and gave great views over lake disney and you could see the large christmas tree outside the hotel New York. The swimming pool has been designed with both children and adults in mind as it has a shallow and deep end and a large front end of a boat that pertrudes into it where spectators can stand on to watch people swim.
The restaurants within the hotel carry a seafood theme but alternatives are available if required and the food is of a very high standard as my whole family enjoyed our meals. Breakfast is a cold continental breakfast with a selection of meats and cheeses accompanied by croissants and rolls.
Overall this is a lovely hotel where children can relax and play, and apart from the few problems at the beginning of the stay we all really enjoyed it. I would reccommend it to people and may stay again myself although my family and myself all prefer the hotel New York.
I will be giving it 5 stars as I feel it is worth it, as the initial problems were soon forgot about and the Captains bar breakfast more than made up for them!
Summary: Overall a very nice hotel

- 06/08/09 A useful review, but there are quite a lot of typos/spellings and grammatical errors which really detract from it. I find it helps to write reviews in Word first. Hope this helps :o) |
