Advantages: Right at the entrance to the park and very luxurious

Disadvantages: Extremely expensive

The Disneyland hotel is located right at the entrance of the main Disneyland park, as you can imagine this comes in very handy for getting to the front of the line for the park!

I've stayed in this hotel twice. The first stay was as a regular guest and the second time we stayed in the Castle Club section of the hotel (I'll go on to explain the differences later in the review!)

We have always caught the eurostar to Disneyland so we enter the hotel through the entrances that you pass when you walk to the park.

You enter into an amazing lobby, just the type of Disney magic you would expect. If you are a fan of pink then this is the hotel for you! As not only is the entire outside pink, there are also loads of little pink touches dotted around the interior!

The main theme of the hotel is Victorian Elegance. All the "cast members" (staff) are dressed in Victorian get up, and are always happy to do whatever they can to help you.

There is a great staircase in the middle of the hotel that lead up to gallery areas which all have corridors leading off to rooms etc. This is a great place to take pictures of the hotel interior.

Check in was effortless. We were given our park tickets, given all the details about breakfast, park opening times, charge cards (to buy stuff in the park and have it charged to the room) and any other information we might need to know with regards to our stay.

We were then escorted to our room as we had a few bags, so the bell boy helped us out (for a small tip!).

The rooms in the Disneyland hotel are very lavish. HUGE soft beds! They are decorated with the same Victorian style theme, and there are obviously loads of little hidden Disney touches, for example, from a distance the wallpaper looks like just a patterened style, yet when you look closer you can see the dancing hippos from the Fantasia film! The rooms are very clean and there is a turn down service in the evenings where they leave little Disney chocolate coins on your pillows!

Breakfast in the hotel is in the Inventions restaurant and is a huge continental breakfast buffet. Everything you would expect. Pastries, yogurts, cheese's, meats, the list is endless! Everything is constantly replenished so you are never waiting for anything! It can get very busy at breakfast time, so I would reccomend going down quite early, around 8ish (although park opening times vary, so this can effect how busy breakfast is around certain times!).

Then off to the park! Right out the door and through the turnstyles, a very tiring 30 second walk!!

After a long day at the park I can highly reccomend a swim in the hotel pool. It is very calming and you get towels and private lockers. There is an attendant who will give you these items.

After a swim head off to Cafe Fantasia for a cocktail (non or alcoholic, they serve LOTS!) and some nibbles! There was a live pianist the couple of times we went here, so it was lovely after a hectic day at the park.

We have only ever been as a couple (both in our 20's) but the lounge is great as you feel comfortable in there as a couple, but it is also great for families.

With the Disneyland hotel, there are always loads of characters wandering around the hotel so you get plenty of opportunities for pictures, and you don't have lot's of crowding like in the park/

Now the Castle Club! This is a private section of the hotel. It does cost alot more to stay here but you do get some special treats that regular hotel guest don't get!

You go to check in at the regular reception and they will take you upto the Castle Club reception. You access this reception from a private lift. Your room card allows you access to this lift!

The reception in castle club is private, secluded and very relaxed. All the stations were actually busy when we went to check in so we were taken to the private lounge for a drink (all complimentary), then the cast member actually checked us into our room in the lounge so we didn't have to leave our drinks!

With Castle Club you get given VIP fast track tickets. You can use these anytime after 11am all day. You don't have to come back to the rides at a certain time like the normal fastpass, you just rides as and when you please in the fast track que! Very convienient at busy times, and means you can fit much more into the day!

Another castle club benefit is the complimentary afternoon tea! This is in the private lounge that overlooks the park entrance. The afternoon tea is amazing! So many incredible cakes and pastries, this isn't the place to be if you're on a diet!!

You can get free soft drinks and tea and coffee all day in the lounge, and breakfast is also served there so you are away from all the hustle and bustle downstairs.

With Castle Club you also get a private lift "in to the park". On the website is says direct into the park, but it actually goes from the castle club lifts to the park turn styles, still brilliant as the perk to say "I've got a private lift" but it doesn't really save you much time as the hotel is so close anyway! You access the lift with your room card!

All in all the Disneyland hotel is amazing. Whether you stay in the regular hotel or Castle Club. All the magic you expect and absolute luxury. However this does come at a price! When we stayed castle club for 4 nights it was over £1200. When you consider you could go to Florida for this amount it is extremly expensive, but as a treat, it is well worth it!

Summary: A fantastic hotel, worth saving up for!
