“ Address: 5780 Major Blvd. / Orlando / Florida 32819 / USA „
I stayed in this hotel in april 2011 with my mother and my two children aged 8 and 13 for 14 nights in a self catering apartment.
As we pulled up in our taxi to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised as the porters who were dressed very smartly in uniforms greeted us with welcome smiles and greetings. our luggage was taken from the taxi and transported to our room whilst we checked in. the entrance and lobby was beautifully decorated with palm trees and natural deco giving it a very posh feel and welcoming atmosphere.
We were checked in pretty fast and given a pack containing all the info we needed, the staff was very welcoming and couldnt do enough to help, we were all given a drink (soda for the children and coffee for the adults) along with warm fresh cookies (totally yummy!) to take to our room, we were personally shown to our room and shown how to work the tv, the door lock and the telephone.
The room was really lovely and homely, so much more than we had expected. spotlessley clean with everything we might need including a safe, a coffee machine with an assortment of drinks, a fridge/freezer, a tv, a shower room, air con and two massive double beds with fancy pillows.
we got to realise that the room was cleaned and sheets were changed daily along with fresh towels being left and refershments replenished, along with a daily newspaper.
The hotel is located on international drive in orlando florida and is adjacent to the famous seaworld and aquatica and is also a short bus journey away from all the disney parks to where the hotel provide free shuttle buses to and from on a daily regular basis. The staff were amazing and couldnt do enoughto help when we had any questions or wanted to find out about something, they went out of their way to help in every way they could and were always cheery. the grounds of the hotel was quite large and very well laid out which made it very easy to find your way around, it was also very beautiful with lots of wooden decking, ponds, waterfalls, plants and flowers etc. there were 5 pools to choose from all which were lovely, spotless and well laid out with plenty of sun loungers and areas to sit the pools stayed open until midnight and was well lit up at night, the hotel also supplied pool side towels for everyone to use as they wished which i thought was a thoughtful touch as this saved the use of our towels for trips. you are allowed to borrow the towels for your own use too. there is a hot tub and a childrens pool where their were staff supervising and getting the children involved in games for small prizes which was quite low key and not at all as noisy as you might think, there is a small golf course which the staff supervise, encourage and teach the children to play at no extra cost. two large outdoor pool tables, and a small park with swings and a slide. the hotel also provided travel to and from all tourist attractions at no extra cost which were always on time, fully air conditioned and always had plenty of seats.
There was also a shop selling everything you might need from stamps to gifts to handbags. an internet suite where at no extra charge you can sit in privacy on the computors for that quick email check or to up date your status on a social network site as i did letting everyone know what a fab time we were having.
There is also a lauderette, a gym, and a spa on the grounds.
food and drink....
There are plenty of options for eating and drinking at this hotel from the pool side bar which will make you pizza and chips to a posh resturaunt with four course meals. there is also a pizza hut who will deliver to your table or your room if you wish and a breakfast bar which does the same. Our favourate was the breakfast buffet, totally stunning food which does not cost the earth. abundant fresh fruits all laid out beautifully along with every other thing you could think off that you might fancy, and if what you want is not there you just ask a waiter and they will cater to whatever you want or need, the children were also allowed to take peices of fresh fruit to snack on throughout the day. fantastic service. the little ice cream shop was the childrens favourate, the variety and quality was amazing and tasted out of this world.
here i might add that on a daily basis we were left with fresh bottled water and warm cookies in our room.
fantastic. staying at this hilton owned hotel really did make our holiday, we were always made to feel important, and the laid back atmosphere made it all the more special as it was not over crowded or noisy. the staff were exellent and always had a smile for you. the cleanliness is out of this world, not a single peice of rubbish spotted inside or out the whole time we were there, the bed sheets and towels were always spotless and clean as were the cutlery, crockery etc. the food was amazing, cooked to perfection every time and did not cost a fortune.
It was surprisingly easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. value for money i think is the biggie, i would have expected to pay alot more than what we did for staying in this wonderful hotel, it was a whole lot more than any of us ever expected and we will without a doubt be back to stay again.

In fact i have just booked another 14 night stay at this hotel at a reduced price as a loyalty bonus which i did not expect at all. i received exellent smooth and personilised service by booking with them direct.
I cannot praise highly enough. Thankyou Doubletrees.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel at the entrance of Universal Orlando for just one night in June this year before flying back home from Florida.
We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Universal CityWalk - the bustling restaurant, shopping, and entertainment area that forms the entrance to Universal Studios. It was just a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel to get there, and we spent an enjoyable evening at Universal CityWalk looking at the shops and having a nice dinner in one of the restaurants.
The hotel itself consists of two tall glass towers, joined by the reception area and hotel lobby on the ground floor. It's extremely clean and modern looking. Upon entering the reception, we were greeted by the receptionist and given the chocolate chip cookies that are given to every guest at a Doubletree Hotel. The cookies weren't very nice actually in my opinion and very dry - surprising as the company has apparently given out over 100,000,000 of them!
I was horrified to discover at check-in that guests are charged $12 a day to park outside the hotel as I have never encountered this before and I thought it was pretty bad really to expect hotel guests to pay parking in addition to their hotel room fees. Be aware of this additional charge if you book online - as I didn't see it before booking so it was a nasty surprise when we got there.
The room itself was nice - spacious, very clean and decorated in neutral colours. It was perhaps a bit too neutral for me as I prefer to stay in places with a bit more character, and you could imagine that every single room in this hotel looked exactly the same as yours. The floor to ceiling window was an interesting feature - one that I didn't like to stand too close to! The views of the Orlando skyline were nice though, especially when the sun was setting.
We didn't stay there long enough to try the fitness centre, pool, games room, or any of the restaurants/bars on site so I am unable to advise on these facilities, but please be aware they are available.
Overall, one night here was probably enough for me as it is a bit far out from the town to do much except visit Universal Studios. I was also put off by the parking charge, and for these reasons I will give the hotel three stars.
Hotel and convention centre.
