Stay the luxurious way (Eden Hotel)

When my family was here in Sri Lanka we went down south to Eden resort and Spa hotel in Beruwala. This was not the first time I had been here but it was the first time I was staying overnight. This hotel belongs to the Confifi group of hotels; we prefer going to hotels managed by Confifi as we are guaranteed to get Halal food. I've been to the two other hotels managed by this group many times, but been to Eden resort nd spa only once as it is a bit expensive.

After the long 2 hour drive from home we got to the hotel at around 1.30pm. We were warmly welcome but checking in took too long. The hotel was beautiful, with a very large pool and well kept garden. The rooms were big spacious and nice.

After freshening up the kids went to the pool, and since there was a kids pool they really enjoyed splashing around there. And then we went for a walk on the beach, this is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. The beach can be accessed very easily from the hotel, just as you step out of the hotel your on the beach. And the sea is great for a sea bath, you can see many people having a bath here. That evening we ordered some club sandwiches to the room, and we got the sandwiches later than expected but it tasted quite good.

The dinner was fabulous with mostly international dishes and some delicious desserts, of which I ate only the chocolaty desserts. The breakfast next day had many Sri Lankan foods like string hoppers, kiri bath (milk rice), sambols etc. And the normal stuff of a breakfast buffet of fruits, fruit juice, cereals, buns, types of bread etc. I enjoy cereals the most and ate the cocoa pops for breakfast. The lunch too was Sri Lankan and international buffet. I preferred the Sri Lankan dishes and had rice, fish curry, mango chutney and papadum (fried crisps sort of thing) along with a few international dishes.

My stay here was too short to go sightseeing but there are a few lovely places around Beruwala to see.

Galle - Galle is a must see town famous for its fort which is a world heritage site. I've been here many years ago, but still remember how beautiful it was.

Kosgoda - Turtle hatchery not too far from Beruwala that maybe of interest, I have not been here but attracts a lot of visitors.

And Hikkaduwa is famous for its coral reefs and glass bottom boat rides where you can see the lovely multi coloured corals through the glass bottom of the boat, its lovely and shouldn't be missed.

Kitchimala mosque - This is believed to be the first mosque in Sri Lanka and its beautiful, the view from the mosque premises is amazing. The harbor and the whole of Beruwala can be seen from here.

***Location***
56 km south of Colombo (1 ½ hour drive) and about 90 km from the airport (3 hour drive), Beruwela is a very popular tourist destination.

Eden hotel is one of the best hotels I have been to. Its stylish design and luxurious rooms make it the perfect blend of my ideal holiday. I was here for one night and wished I stayed longer. The food is scrumptious and there is a wide variety to choose from. The service too is good, but can improve.

Summary: Highly recommended! Would definitely go here again
