In Vasteras which is a large industrial city about 90 minutes from Stockholm the Scandic is popular with business people as it is convenient for many of the large companies. Hotel Vintage (Brussels) ... A very nice young man checked me in whilst I tried really hard not to turn my nose up at the collection of exceptionally bright orange vases on the black fireplace. The sofas were similar to one my grandfather gave me when I got my first home and which I couldn t get rid of quickly enough. I was reminded of too many hotels in Eastern Europe during the first few years after the Iron Curtain came down. It s fair to say that I wasn t really in tune with the vibe of the Vintage. Comfort Hotel Place du Tertre Paris ... Comfort Hotel Place Du Tertre is located in the Montmartre area of Paris and is a stone s throw away from the Sacre Coeur church in one direction and the world famous Moulin Rouge cabaret club in the other. The nearest metro station is Blanche, which is on the blue (number two) line and connects straight to the main train station, Gard Du Nord, which makes it very easily accessible from the airport. From the metro station it is around a five minute walk uphill to the hotel. This, coupled with the cobbled streets and uneven pavements, will make it unsuitable for those with walking difficulties. Hotel Jeronimos 8 (Lisbon, Portugal) ... 8 is one of the most contemporary hotels I have come across in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. It has a real designer feel to the establishment and makes a refreshing change from the heavy wood furniture and long draped curtains that you come across quite a lot in Portugal. The hotel is well connected by tram, bus and train to the city centre. To save on costs whilst travelling to and from the hotel I suggest you purchase a Sete Colinas travel card from the nearest kiosk or newsagents.
