During our trip around Colorado in May this year, our mission to find cheap hotels had been going really well and we'd taken advantage of the off-season to get some fantastic places for very little money. However, when we looked for something cheap in Cortez, a town in the South West of Colorado, we really struggled. We later learned that whilst the mountain areas of Colorado were off-season because it was too late to ski but too early to romp in the mountains, May was the peak for this particular region.
