Advantages: Great place to just chill out take stock of your life
Disadvantages: One problem we found though was we had to come home
My wife and I went for 2 weeks in September 06, this was our first holiday without the kids, so it was like the honeymoon we never got.
The average temperature was 88f and even at night it was still very warm
**The Booking**
We booked the self catering holiday with My Travel at a very good price, suppose it helps when my brother works for My Travel. The My Travel plane was not bad at all and we was well looked after by the crew.
**The Apartments**
The planes that come over head came between 7am till about 10pm and to be honest after a few days you don't take much notice of them.
The apartments are basic enough with a 2 ringed hob, a TV that is coin operated? The beds are very hard which can be a good thing, but those mattress protectors are a pain, the heat just bounces back onto you so it is very uncomfortable to sleep sometimes.
The facilities around the complex are basic enough; there is a swimming pool and a pool bar. The pool is always busy and for some reason people like to get there at about 9am and sit there until about 6pm…What is the point of going on holiday and sitting around a pool all day recovering from the night before. The mini market is on site but not cheap, it's stocked with the normal UK food brands, but ill warn you will pay a least twice as much for it. I suggest you go to the local Netto about 10 minuets walk away. There is also a bar room on the site, but I personally didn't like the look of it and instead walked down to the centre as its only 500 meters away.
The room has safety deposit boxes at a cost of 10E a week with a 15E deposit.
Our maid was great she came 10 times during the 14 days we stayed there, gave a basic clean, mopped and change the bedding 4 times in 2 weeks. Our towels where changed every time she came, so I suppose it depends on the cleaner how well she does her job.
Security was not a problem at all; we didn't see anyone or hear off anyone who had been robbed etc. The is a security presence but they seem to walk around late at night, probably thinking there is no need as there is plenty of people about to scare the robbers. There is a police force about who seem to only stop in the cars, but they are around which makes you feel safe.
**The Holiday**
Trips out are great but don't go to your rep, there is a place in the main centre that do trips and we found them a lot cheaper. You can save at least £20 by using the people in town. One trip the rep was running wanted around £25 each, we went to the tour operator in the town and got the same trip for £16 each, a saving of £18, so shop around !.
The main centre are popular area is around 500 meters away from the complex which is a nice pleasant walk to reach.
Food in the town is great, there is a massive choice from Italian, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese and of course the usual English places...But why would you want to go to a English place for pie and peas and chips your on your holiday try the other places.
I can recommend the rib place on your left as you walk into town; the Italian "Gambinos" under the rib place is fantastic. The Chinese in the main town is also a great place to eat and very nice people and very friendly. To be honest we ate out all the time and the prices are great, a mixed grill for £4!
English breakfast works out at around £2.50
Trips that are about are good but on the expensive side.
We went whale watching which cost around £27 (40E) each, we didn't see whales on our first trip or dolphins, but because you don't see anything you get the trip free until you do see. On the very next day we saw around 100 dolphins which the catamaran chases which you just have top experience.
We also went on a day trip around the island which takes you to some stunning places, the trip cost around £23 (35E), to see the island from the highest mountain just has to be seen, and we also liked the goat farm where the cheese is so cheap and very fresh.
The beach from the complex is around 800 meters away and is a nice easy walk to get to.
The beaches are great; we found if you walked to the right on the beach towards the big hotels the beaches where better. There was not as much little stones.
Caleta de Fuste to be honest would be boring for the older kids.
What more can I say, not sure but I think I have covered it.
"Great place, great food, great people, and a great place to just chill out."
Thanks for reading my reviews, and thankyou for rating them.
