Although none of the rooms are en suite, there are 2 toilets and a shower on each floor (so for up to 4 rooms to share depending on occupancy). The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bathroom really sparkled. The last hotel I stayed in, in Bratislava, had all rooms en suite but their bathrooms were much worse than this. Last weekend was the start of the Salzburg festival which resulted in us having trouble finding accommodation. All the cheap places in our guide book were full, so we did what anyone in our situation would have done - begged a native to use their power to get us a room somewhere. This is how we ended up where we did and what follows is the story of why you should consider staying there too even though it’s not that well known. We stayed in what can only be described as a typically Austrian Gasthaus. It was an overly large house with 8 guest rooms spread over 2 floors.
