Advantages: very efficient, food excellent, no problems

Disadvantages: only my journey

Now not taking into account my 12hour journey on coach to the Hague, when we arrived at the Golden Tulip, for the price we had paid we were expecting a travel lodge of some kind, however much to our surprise the hotel looked very well presented with all glass windows at the front, looking into an exceptional reception area.

The reception had all marble floors, to the right of you you had a bar with a well spacious lounge area and to the right 4 lifts to all floors.

Considering there was a coach load of us, reception were very firendly and very quick in getting us all checked in and allocated to our rooms.

All the lifts worked to all floors and upon entering the room, it was very bright, spacious, with a king sized bed and everything that you required for your stay, hairdryer, television with sky, tea and coffe making facilities, all the normal things you would expect to see. The room itself was very clean, as was the rest of the hotel. A minibar was also included, at a small cost and contained various beers and spirits, crisps and chocolate.

The bathroom was large with marble floors again and double sink. The bath was also bigger than usual and the shower was excellent, no problems at all.

The bed in the room has got to be the comfiest bed i have ever slept in and the pilows were outstanding. I wanted to take them home, i have never slept so well in any hotel before coming to the Golden Tulip.

There is another bar located downstairs with ample room to accommodate guests in the hotel serving alcoholic beverages until the early hours.

Also located downstairs is a indoor heated swimming pool should guests want to get up for a swim before breakfast - opening hours are 7:00am - 10:00pm and a lifeguard is there at all times.

Breakfast was included in the cost and you could eat as much as you liked.. including cereal, fruit, english cooked buffet and continental foods were available. Sampling abit of everything whilst i was there, the food was excellent.

Evening meal should you wish to eat in the hotel costs around 18 EUR and is worth every penny for a three course buffet style meal, also catering for children along the way. I had makerel for starters and i aren't a big lover of fish but this was absolutely delicious.

The cost of the accommodation was £180 per person, in fact that was for the whole trip so i would image it being a lot cheaper than that.

It is located about an hour from Amsterdam on train which was our fault at the end of the day but for the hotel itself it was amazing.. i would definitely return.

Summary: You will be home here..lovely!!!

I don't understand the reference to Amsterdam....did you want somewhere closer to Amsterdam? So why stay at the Hague? Fiona

That'd be the Dutch efficiency then! Sounds like a sound bet in the Hague where hotels can often be very expensive.
