Advantages: friendly, welcoming, large rooms

Disadvantages: rooms are a little "tired"

The Gramercy Park hotel is in keeping with its exclusive address. It has an old world charm and doesn't seem to have changed much in the past 50 years. In many ways this is very endearing, the hotel attracts an eclectic group of guests and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are huge, almost like mini appartments which apparently is something of a luxury in the Big Apple. They are also very clean but probably in need of a lick of paint and some new wallpaper here and there. My TV was an original wooden one with a turn dial built way before the notion of remote control was conceived. The restaurant was excellent and good value for a hotel and the location is fabulous. Close to Silicon Alley and the new "cool" areas, not far from 5th Avenue for the shops and best of all in a quiet place where the constant sirens don't seem to reach.
