A Grand Time In Gran Canaria After a rather over-worked summer, and a few of my own personal problems I needed a good long break where I could forget the alarm clock and completely relax. My normal preferred holiday destination is Magaluf/Majorca, but I felt like going somewhere different, and this time not just for a lively holiday, but a more scenic holiday. All of my friends had been to Gran Canaria before and raved about it for ages, and when they suggested for me to come along with them this year, for a two week break, it was too good an offer to refuse. We booked our self-catering holiday with Thomas Cook as a holiday package - flights, ... Read the complete review

Hi, all you sun worshippers! And I guess there?s quite a lot of us in the U.K. Of course, last summer we didn?t need to go abroad for the sun, as it was so hot here, but quite uncomfortable. If you like to top up your tan in the winter months, and don?t want to fly too far, what better place is there than the Canary Islands. But be sure to take plenty of high factor suncream, or you will end up looking like a lobster!! I used cream on the first day, but it was not strong enough, as I started to burn, so the 15 factor had to be used. If you are travelling with babies and toddlers, do keep them covered or ... These apts were above average for budget accom in Puerto Rico. This is my 7th time in Puerto Rico and aside from the Terrazzemar suites these are the best apts ive stayed in. We do always go for the budget option as most time is spent on the beach/bars so this review is meant for like minded travelers. These are classic 2* apts so I wouldn't necessarily recommend these to my parents! We booked through alpharooms.com There is always at least 3 of us on this holiday & the annoying thing about most apts in this situation is that someone has to sleep on the sofa in the living room - not ideal! In this case we had a 2 storey Apt, large living room with corner ... Read the complete review

My boyfriend and I went to Puerto Rico which is a resort situated, basically, on a big hill in the shape of a horse shoe. First of all I will talk about what I thought of the resort in general. I did think the area was too built up - there are so many hotels/apartments built into the hill and if you happen to be up the top or in the middle (which we were) then the beach isn't as close as you think. You will definitely be fit after staying here as whenever we went to the beach, there was a good walk back up a good many flights of stairs!! We were in a 2 Star self-catering apartment which wasn't too bad. There were a few cracked tiles on the wall ... Read the complete review

The date was set - September 20th 2008. The husband to be had been negotiate into a corner 'I'll fly up to 4 hours but no more than that', now it was just the location. We settled on Gran Canaria. We'd found a bargain and a half. 5 star half board accommodation in a spa resort close to the dunes in Maspalomas. So it was set - we'd spend our 10 day honeymoon on the island. On return, these were the things that struck us. Firstly, the sights that line the routes to many resorts are less than idyllic. Gran Canaria is a hugely successful supplier of tomato exports. The stock is cultivated in vast, temporary-looking structures made of nylon sacking and canes or metal ... Read the complete review
