Gran Canaria is a popular holiday resort amongst young groups, families, couples and more mature holidaymakers and really does offer something for everyone. The weather is hot and sunny, the beaches long, shallow and sandy and the wide choice of resorts means everyone will enjoy their time on the island. It is one of the canary islands and i think if i'm correct that its closest to africa.

The South of Gran Canaria is where all the island's main resorts can be found. Here it is hot and desert-like with long sandy beaches and volcanic scenery.

We stayed in Puerto Rico which wasnt too bad but was very hilly and spread out and there were loads and loads of cockroaches!!
The beach is ok and offers the best watersports on the island. There are a lot of street sellers and you have to be carefull as they can be very intimidating.

Playa del Ingles is the place for nightlife where most bars and discos are found around the Kasbah centre. You will find lots of bars offering free shots and BOGOF's on drinks... just be carefull of the taxi drivers on the way back to your hotel as they are very good at pretending to be lost to charge you more!!

Summary: Good value holiday destination, just mind the cockroaches!
