“ Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, 13 / 38660 Costa Adeje / Tenerife / Spain „
I recently stayed at this hotel during a holiday to Tenerife with my boyfriend.
We booked this hotel through Thomson holidays. It cost around £550 per person for a week, including flights. This was for half board.
The hotel itself:
This hotel is a 4 star hotel located in Costa Adeje in Tenerife. It is actually just where Cossta Adeje meets Las Americas so is a great location for exploring both of these areas. The hotel is now an adult only hotel meaning no children are allowed to stay in it. This gives the hotel an overall quieter atmosphere, but obviously means it isn't suitable for young families. This hotel is located right on the beach. In the hotel there is a gym, a spa and tennis courts.
This hotel has 365 rooms. There are double rooms, superior rooms, sea view rooms, superior sea view rooms, suites and junior suites. I stayed in a standard double room and this was lovely. The room was bright, airy and spacious. The rooms come with a tv, a safe and a minibar. The rooms are cleaned daily.
There are 3 swimming pools in this hotel. 1 of these is heated during winter months. There are plenty of sun loungers around the pools. One great thing about this hotel is you cannot reserve sun loungers with a towel before 10am. This suited us perfectly as we could get up, have breakfast and then head to the pool without having to worry about all sun loungers being taken. As well as standard sun loungers there were some fancy ones with mattresses, and also double sunbeds which were very cmfortable. These were available for all guests with no extra charge. There is also an outdoor hottub at the hotel which we used regularly.
As we stayed half board at the hotel this included breakfast and evening meal. You could not swap the evening meal for lunch as you can in some half board hotels. The food at this hotel was excellent. It was buffet style but was of a far higher standard than most of these hotels. At breakfast there was a full selection of continental breakfast, pastries, cereals, fruit, juices, yogurts, cold meats, cheeses etc. There as the usual cooked breakfast options, bacon, eggs, sausages. There is a 'show cooking' section where you could go and have foods cooked for you to order like eggs, omelettes and pancakes. Evening meal was similar, and in the show cooking area you could have your meat/fish cooked to order. There was always a great selection of meat, lamb, chicken, sirloin steaks, pork etc.
There are 3 bars in this hotel as well as a lounge and a piano bar. My favourite bar was the sunset chill out bar where there were comfortable beds/loungers and seats where you could sit and watch the sunset while being served drinks. This bar was open all day and evening, not just at sunset time. There was also often live music. I found that the evening entertainment at this hotel to be a bit boring. It was usually something like a singer or one night there was a group of acrobats but this didn't impress me much.
As we were half board, we had to pay for all drinks at the hotel. You could not pay cash for these, instead you had to sign for them and they were charged to your room. This was fine but I prefer to pay for drinks as I go along so I know how much I have spent! The drinks were slightly more expensive than in the bars surrounding the hotel so we would often have a drink or two with dinner then head out to a nearby bar. The soft drinks in particular were expensive, so while I lay at the pool I sent the other half to the nearby supermarket for some soft drinks and bottled water!
Nearby there were plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. There is also. Water park within walking distance for any thrill seekers. There are also plenty of excursions running which can be booked through the hotel or at one of the companies nearby.
I give this hotel a 5 out of 5 stars. It is a lovely holiday for those who want a little bit of luxury without spending a fortune. I would definitely recommend into friends and family and would certainly stay there again myself!
the gran tinerfe is an absolutely gorgeous hotel in tenerife.
it has a wide range of facilities including three pools and a gym.
the hotel is located right on the beach and is practically right next to the shops. its in a really great location.
the hotel has two poolside bars one in which you have to cross a bridge and its in the middle of the swimming pool which is very relaxing.
the other poolside bar is covered up but is right next to a big spacious pool which is also nice if you want to be shaded whilst you have a drink.
this is a four star hotel and when we were there they told us the only reason that it wasnt a five star hotel.
the hotel serves really nice food and the have a wide variety of foods which is good. for breakfast they have a wide variety of choice. they serve continental breakfast with a range of pastries and cakes. they also serve fruit and cereals.
they also serve a full english breakfast including bacon and sausage eggs beans and tomatoes. they also have a selection of fruit juices.
the evening menu also has wide variety they have different soups for starters and a selection of salads.
they also have a fish dish and a meat dish in the evening.
they also have a range of potatoes and chips.
a wide variety of vegetables is also offered.
it is really high standard cuisine and i would definately reccommend it to people. the hotel is available in half board which i find is more than enough and full board which in my opinion would be too much.
if you do need an extra snack during the day they sell sandwiches burgers and chips at the poolside bars along with a variety of other light meals.
in my opinion its location is great as it is directly on the beach close to shops and supermarkets and only a ten minute walk into playa de las americas where all the bars and clubs are.
the hotel is quite expensive but well worth it it cost me 1000 pounds per person but it was the perfect holiday. activities are offered throughout the day for both adults and children by hotel reps.
they also have a wide variety of shows on in the evening and bar is open relatively late the entertainment in the hotel is definately enjoyable.
the only problem with this holiday is not that many travel agents sell it anymore and it can be quite difficult to book.
well worth the price its a fantastic holiday i have been here three times and would definately go back. the staff really do make this hotel enjoyable
I've stayed at Gran Tinerfe for two years now, I go for Christmas and New Year but this year unfortunately we couldn't get booked in for New Year.
I couldn't believe the amount of people visiting Tenerife this year, last year it was full this year it was just unbelievable, my friend rang everywhere to try and stay an extra 9nights and he couldn't get in anywhere.
Christmas day like last year we booked for the gala meal, which is a 7course meal with free wine, water and champagne.
There's two sittings for the gala meal the first sitting starts at half 6 and the second starts at half 9.
I went to the first sitting, I got to the dinning hall at about 10past 6 has they was having a cocktail reception before the meal were I enjoyed some lovely sherry, which most people hated...
Last year New years at Gran tinerfe was the best day of the holiday by far, Christmas was a lot better this year than last year however at the start of the day they had lots of entertainment at 12ish with music near the heated pool and lots of free champagne and snacks.
Everyone was watching the fireworks last year for new year and everyone was given 12 grapes which correct me if I'm wrong represents each month of the year. The atmosphere outside was terrific, everyone by this time was pretty drunk, but in a good way, people singing songs and shouting "Happy New Year" even if they didn't know the person, I think that's what makes new years special strangers wishing each other a good new year.
I remember 2006 when we was preparing for our first time at the Gran Tinerfe for Christmas, I must admit I thought it was going to be rubbish, but I can honestly say it was great.
Gran Tinerfe is a great hotel, the staff are quiet rude on reception and don't speak very well English but the entertainment on the night is good, and the people hosting it can speak fluent English they also do activities in the day from French bowling to rifling.
The hotel often has happy hours in the Christmas period, half price drink, you cant go wrong!
Another thing to add is the rooms, the rooms are a tad old fashioned but they are okay and very clean, however I don't think the wardrobe space for a 3 people room is enough, as me and my friends struggled to put all our clothes in so I had to keep some in my suitcase.
The hotel provides a fashion catwalk every week, where a clothing range use models to sell their produce, near the big pools.
The food in Gran tinerfe is good, with a large selection of food that suits anyone's tastes.
My friend loved the fish they cooked at Gran tinerfe, and the chicken they cooked was splendid.
Gran tinerfe provide lots of facilities from computers one euro for 10minutes a gym, which is free, and a spa.
The beach is like 150 yards from the hotel, it's in the perfect area!
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.
I would defiantly go again next year, and I want to actually stay 3 week instead of 2.
