Advantages: Hugely laid back, lots of freebies, great activities

Disadvantages: You have to leave at some point!

I think this may be the best hostel I've ever stayed in!

Not for the faint of heart, or middle aged couple looking to rekindle old romance, but great fun for everybody else! The rooms are comfortable and not too cramped. The hostel itself is centrally located, and there are some great views from the room facing into the city! It is next to Chinatown, which is great for cheap souvenir hunting, or for watching old men playing mahjong!

There's always lots going on, including bar crawls, live music nights, film nights and a lot more. I went on a couple of bar crawls and had a great time, saw parts of San Francisco at night I would never know how to find again! The people who stay there are mostly American or British, but a lot of other nationalities are well represented as well! You can book yourself on to one of the Green Tortoise trips, which I would also highly recommend. A few times a week, there are free evening meals at the hostel, usually pasta and garlic bread & salad, which are worth hanging around for. There's also free breakfast every day, and free internet access. A very laid back hostel which gets two thumbs up from me.

Summary: One of my favourite hostels anywhere, would recommend it to anyone who is outgoing!

How much per night? Dorms? Private rooms? Shared bathrooms? If so are there enough showers compared with the number of guests?

Haha! No it's nothing like that, for the most part (!), it's just mainly young people staying there, drinking in the common area late into the night and it just may not suit people who are looking to go to bed at 7pm...

Why not for the faint of heart...? Are there in hostel 'activities' as well?
