Advantages: lovely pool area, plentiful food

Disadvantages: firm beds

My husband and I travelled to Tenerife in April 2009 with Thomson and stayed at their 4* Guayarmina Princess hotel in Costa Adeje. The front entrance of the hotel is very impressive, as is the marble floored reception area and the welcome given by the reception staff didn't disappoint either. They were friendly, helpful and efficient every time we approached them.
The walk from reception to your room could be a long one, especially if, like us, you book a sea view room, so I would recommend accepting offers of help with the luggage.
Our room on the second floor looked across the promenade towards the beach and sea but didnot have uninterupted sea views which was a little disappointing. The room was massive with room for 2 double beds plus a lounge area, and had been recently refurbished with stylish white furniture including a white leather sofa bed and white flatscreen tv. Unfortunately the brand new beds were as solid as a rock and the bolster type pillows very high and firm.
The large pool area is situated on the roof of the four storey block of sea view rooms which makes it higher than the promenade with lovely views and shielded from the gaze of passers by. There are 2 main pools, one with a slope for easy access which was a little slippery and the other slightly warmer with traditional pool steps. There was also a very chilly childrens paddling pool. Plenty of sunbeds were available despite the usual 7 o'clock towel brigade.
Meals and drinks at the hotel were very expensive largely due to the exchange rate but there were plenty of bars and restaurants on the prom selling all sorts at very reasonable prices.
Choice of food was extensive although didn't vary greatly from night to night. The salads and carvery options were always delicious and the staple choices of pasta, chips and other child friendly foods were always on offer.
All in all a wonderfully relaxing holiday in a tasteful hotel. The oonly downside being a longing for a soft bed and pillows!

Summary: Large, tastefully decorated rooms and good food and facilities. Ideal for couples.
