Advantages: oh plenty

Disadvantages: none in my opinion

I have stayed in this hotel only for two days in my life but I felt as if I had experienced something out of the world and thought I should share it with you in case you too want to touch the miracle-bubble.

Honestly speaking the five star Hotel Hayat Regency has a getup more akin to a resort with its over 230 rooms , spa, huge swimming pool , restaurants all spread over the 6.5 acers of land(space is a luxury in a city like Kolkata) .

Location:
~~~~~~
JA-1 Sector III | Salt Lake City, Kolkata (Calcutta), 700 098, India .
Some 7miles from the airport and 10 mins taxi ride ( INR 20-80= 25p-£1) to most shopping plazas and tourist attractions) .
If you are staying in the Club class or business class rooms you will get a limo service from and to the airport .
Concierage and housekeeping services :
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Very prompt and efficient service .
Everyone seemed to be wanting to please the guest.
It was nice to be greeted by the staff I met on the corridors .
Rooms and everywhere right from the lobby to the whole seven stories was super duper clean and sparkling.

What all the Hotel offers:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not really sure how to go about writing this but I think I will deal with the content of the whole property first and then get down to the room I stayed in itself.
The hotel comprises of seven stories with a huge beautifully decorated lobby leading to the main congierage .
Outside is a huge swimming pool(with a part segregated for toddlers/shallower) which looked very inviting but not many people were about as it was winter when I was staying there.
There is a 204-square-metre (that's what I was told)health club and if I remember correctly called the Club Prana ( 'Prana'=life) with separate spas for men and women saunas and steaming rooms, spa and aromatherapy tubs, chilling dunk pools, and bathing facilities...lol..you could also ask for aromatherapy, beauty-treatments and head/body massages(most of it is free depending on your package and room status ..be sure to ask if you are not sure). There was a hair saloon too.
Not a big fan of exercising when on holiday but the cardi-machined equipments had a telly attached to them ...
Noticed there was a crèche/babysitting facility too but not sure at all as I did'nt have a little one with me then(but seeing what top class professional care they have I am sure it would be quality service too).
The hotel also has a racquetball/squash court and tennis court not that you would play much if you are there only for a day or so.
If needed they could arrange for Business services at their Business center,Computer rental (if you are holding a meeting, conference there with other people), as they have a conference room.
There is Currency exchange station downstairs.
Dry cleaning and laundry services are provided as in most hotels.
The Video library on the second floor has good stock of very good dvds , videos, cds and books and you can mostly borrow for free(at least I could).
There is arrangement for Wedding services too I have noticed.
There are two lounges where you can have cocktails and snacks in the Cocktail-time too.
Continental full buffet breakfast present for most guests and one miraculously wonderful aspect is that you can choose to order food of your own choice or cooked to your specifications too free of charges.. ..so you can have a breakfast fit for a king too.Veiw is very good from the breakfast room too.
Getting down to the room itself well... it was pure luxury...can you imagine using a bathroom and treating yourself to the panoramic view outside the huge windows...well this was from the 6th floor to be presice.
Please pardon me for wandering to the loo but the bathroom is definitely the most unique and brilliant feature of the suite itself...it is absolutely huge with built-in jaccuzi in the tub and two days were too less to experiment with the absolute huge basket of lotion-potions(mostly designer brand) that had been set there..and these were replaced thrice a day.
The rooms have all the ultra modern bits and technology that is needed and have ohh so soft beds too, marvelous after a hectic day out... you can watch dvd's free of charge from the Regency club too... the ambience and décor was very very soothing. Don't forget to ask for the ironing board if you need it(its free).
Food :
~~~~

Being in Kolkata and not thinking and getting involved in eating is a big crime...hayat caters to the gastoronomy of its guests with its 5 cafes and restaurants... and what was more interesting is they have an 'open kitchen policy'..you can look at whats being cooked and you can ask for something to be cooked up in a certain way and with certain fillings/frills etc... I think this is one very huge crowd puller feature of this unique hotel.

Guchhi serves Authentic Indian dishes( feast yourself on all the baltis, karahis, and others you have always craved for without the fear of catching a bug) ...one section was for reserved guests who were not staying in the hotel ..

There is a Bar-resturant that serves light meals and wines from the world.

The Poolbar outdoor beside the pool offering a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, refreshing mocktails, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, as well as light meals .

There is the A-class Italian restaurant La Cucina where the food was finger licking delicious and a good veiw while dining too.

There is a bakery all in its own in the front too.

Prices:
~~~~
Starting from £85 for a night but it would again depend on the package and time for when you are booking really. It is a small price for the type of service they provide.
Tips:
~~~

If you love drinking only evian (bottled water on vacations)
do buy it outside the hotel from markets... a bottle costs about £5 withing the hotel/room's minibar.

Staying at the Hayat is the ultimate icing to a tour of Kolkata cake.

I have never bagged a crown on Dooyou but while I was writing this review I could still feel the way I felt pampered like a queen (with a virtual tiara) all through my stay at the Hayat .Would definitely like to experience the whole thing again. A big Thankyou to the Hayat Group .

Summary: turely memorable stay
