Advantages: Nice lobby! Nice Staff.

Disadvantages: Far from city centre, dirty, smells of wee, falling apart, worst hotel bathroom i've ever seen

My friend booked this hotel as part of a ferry trip for her 21st birthday. There were 12 of us and on arriving in the city we got in three taxis to get to the hotel, bad idea! From central station we were charged between 24 and 31 Euros for each taxi, and the drivers must have seen us coming as they took us a very long away around!!

On arrival at the supposedly 3* hotel we were excited as the lobby etc looked beautiful, then we were given our room keys and went over to the annex..AKA the shed.

The corridors smelt of pee, the beds were hard and the bed linen not at all nice. The pillows seemed old and worn. There was paint peeling off the walls. The bathroom was a complete joke. Even as a 5ft 7 fairly slim woman, I could not fit onto the toilet and excuse my details but had to sit SIDEWAYS to use it!! The shower was dirty and the bathroom smelt.

We put up with it for the one night as we were mostly out partying but I would not recommend more than one night here. Most of us were too scared to use the showers though I did, it was a struggle to fit due to how the showerhead is positioned.

When people walked in the other rooms or shut doors, all could be heard. I'm not sure exactly how much we paid for this hotel but I think it was around 50 pounds per person... sharing a twin room, not exactly cheap!!!

I would definetely recommend assurance from the hotel before you stay there that you won't be in the annex. They automatically put large groups of people (especially British people) into the annex building... make sure you're not one of them!

Just checked the website for the hotel and it is very misleading!! (The website is here: http://www.hemhotels.nl/en/ )

Summary: DO NOT stay in the annex building!

Believe me, I'm not a snob, but i've stayed in hostels in Australia that were 10 times nicer than this, for about 15 dollars a night, whereas this cost almost 50 POUNDS a night, for way less quality.
