Advantages: Fantastic Location, comparatively cheap rates

Disadvantages: Not the poshest hotel, no real facilities

The first time i went to New York (in 1999) i was in total awe of the place. It was the first time id ever travelled to America, and i dreamt about in NYC for years previous. This is the hotel we stayed at all those years ago.

At the time, The Herald Square Hotel was very competitively priced (i won't say cheap - This is New York after all!) and we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with how nice the building itself was. The little golden cherubs adorning the exterior are a nice touch - and help to give a positive first impression of the place.

The room itself was reasonable, comfy bed, clean and tidy, en-suite bathroom, Cable TV and safe , plus a good Air Conditioner which was a godsend!

The reason why most people will stay here isnt in the quality of the rooms , or the facilities within the hotel - Its the fantastic location. Located only a couple of blocks south of the Empire State Building and a minute's walk away from 5th Avenue - The Herald Square is in the perfect location to allow the sightseer to take in as much as possible within a short timeframe.

The prices for the Herald Square seem to have escalated to a great extent since we stayed there - But the location will always stay the same, and that makes it worth every penny.
