Staff could try harder (Hilton in general)

I fly from Manchester airport two or three times a year and normally spend the night before at the Radisson SAS hotel. For my last flight however, the Radisson was full and so I opted for the Hilton which is two minutes from Terminal 2.

I always find that first impressions count and was somewhat dismayed that the receptionist was rather snooty and aloof when I was checking in. Why is it that in high-class hotels the staff always seem to take on a superior air?

As I was only staying for one night however, I wansn't unduly bothered about the friendliness of the staff and made my way to my room.

The room itself was small, but very well decorated. As you would expect from Hilton, it was also absolutley spotless. Full marks to the chamber-maids at least!
There was the usual range of facilities, trouser-press, kettle, tv and internet and fax access if you required.(The complimentary toiletries were also wonderful!)

The hotel also had a small health club with pool, jacuzzi and sauna which I did not make use of but certainly looked very inviting.

As with all major hotels, food and drink prices were high, but the quality was second to none.

I would reccomend Hilton Hotels to anyone lookng for a comfortable stay, the bed was certainly on that you could quite happily sink into! Going back to the staff however, they are certainly efficient and even organise a free bus to take you to your terminal, but the could do with trying to be as little bit friendlier and slighly less superior-minded.
