On a recent trip to Madrid I booked a room in a Holiday Inn express. These are holiday inns without the facilities, like a sports complex or big restaurants. The Madrid hotel is actually in Tres Cantos which is a few miles north of the city and is well served with a direct train service and just off the main motorway.
Tres Cantos offers very little to the visitor being a similat to Milton Keynes without the facilities,also it is very commercial.
The hotel was recently built and the staff very friendly English speaking.
The costs were good value at around £30 for a family room for 4 with a continetal breakfast included. An ideal base to travel into Madrid from and an overnight stay for a flight from the airport.
