Advantages: location, quite large rooms

Disadvantages: swimming pool is outdoors, views from rooms can be non existent

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Its right in the heart of Fishermans Wharf which may well be a fairly tacky tourist area but it is also a place where you will feel perfectly safe walking around at night (where we did not feel safe walking around near alot of the downtown hotels). It is a 5 minute walk to both cable car turnarounds which will take you into the downtown area, or stop on the way at other attractions like the cable car museum, lombard street or chinatown.
The hotel is a two minute walk to both the cannery and anchorage - two little shopping centres and about a 10 minute walk to Ghiradelli square.
It is also just a block away from the seafront and all the piers including the pier you need for trips to alcatraz etc.
All in all in my opinion definately the hotel to go for if you want a great location to see the main tourist attractions of san fransisco. It is reasonably priced and fairly big, however if you want to use the facilities such as swimming pool and restaurant often then try and make sure you are in the main building and not the beach street building as all that part has is a Denny's (which is fairly disgusting!)

The main hotel restaurant does a nice buffet breakfast, for about $11 (quite expensive really but no more expensive then any where else in san fran). The quality of food is nice and the selection is good.

We stayed in the beach street building which is just on the next block to the main building and also next to the holiday inn express which is basically very similar but with only rooms, no facilities at all, not even a restaurant or coffee bar as far as I recall. The prices are the same too so again I recommend staying in the proper holiday inn as opposed to the express.

The holiday inn rooms are nice enough although we had a view of a brick wall and some dustbins! But the rooms themselves are quite large, immaculately clean and have tea and coffee making facilities, iron and
ironing board and everything else you would expect.

If I was to go back to san fransisco i'd probably stay here again.
