Advantages: PERFECT SERVICE - CLEAN - EXCELLENT FOOD - SPACY ROOMS
Disadvantages: none from my part
Doing a lot of travelling business wise I had the real pleasure to stay in the Holiday Inn Hotel close the Elb Bridges in Hamburg. Situated just outside the city centre with a bus service for 2 Euros bringing you straight into town, the hotels offers
- free parking with garage
- has got a big park adjoining with a lovely childrens play area
- has got the most stunning view over the Hamburg Cruise Terminal that you can imagine
Now let's stop here before it gets too enthusiastic. The reception is welcoming being located in a very stylish big marble hall. The staff is friendly and speaks fluent English.
The rooms are about big and extremely clean. The bathroom with shower over bath and lots of freebies like soap, hairwash and all sorts. Free dressing gown and shoes for the pool are provided as well.
The pool is indoors and offers plenty of room for swimming. There is also a fitness room and a sauna for free use.
The breakfast is absolutely phenomenal - with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh made eggs and a big buffer with all sorts of food which ranges from local German food to all European and American food tastes - including fresh pancakes with Canadian maple sirup.
Best thing is to leave the car in the hotel garage and to use the public transport which is available at a short walk from the hotel and takes you straight within 6 - 8 minutes to the city centre. From there it is easy to commute into all the parts of Hamburg or if required outside Hamburg.
I had the pleasure to stay in the hotel when the Queen Mary II arrived this summer at the Hamburg Cruise Terminal and I will never forget the premium view I had on the cruiser and how the city of Hamburg welcomed the Queen Mary II. The harbour and the cruise ship were brightly lit and it was one of the most stunning views I have ever seen.
Also you get great view to the harbour seeing the container ships being unloaded.
I paid 60 Euros a night for the 4 star listed hotel - and it was better than most 5 star hotels I stayed in.
I can fully recommend this hotel - also for families with children. It was a very delightful stay.
Summary: CAN NOT BEAT THE VIEW ON THE HAMBURG HARBOUR AND THE CRUISE TERMINAL

- 15/12/08 I know this hotel far too well - you only get the choc and free minibars on the executive floor rooms. The restaurant menus don't change very often (a problem if you are there several times a month) and the room service food is absolutely dreadful. Funnily though, I quite miss the place - I changed jobs and don't have to go there any more. Shame as I had loads of free cocktail vouchers left. |

- 14/12/08 Thanks a lot... forgot to add though that kids even get some excellent chocolate bars (and there is Haribo on every pillow) and jigsaws. AND the MINI BAR IS FREE. |
