But better than that was the location on Calle de las Huertas- five minutes walk took us to the Prado (Big Art gallery with lots of famous piccies in) and the picturesque parque del retiro. The owner doesn't speak English...Handy Hint - No one in Madrid speaks English! which proved for an amusing time...We just laughed and nodded constantly. We were probably agreeing that our mothers were whores and we were mad as chairs...which we are, so that's OK then. Anyway we booked it over the net totally hass...more |

Just back from five days in Madrid staying at the very cheap, clean and friendly Hostal Lopez. In Spain there are loads of hostals, which are kind of like hotels, but not as posh and about a millionth of the price. The room was en-suite with a half bath ( which is OK 'cos I'm vertically challenged ) But better than that was the location on Calle de las Huertas- five minutes walk took us to the Prado (Big Art gallery with lots of famous piccies in) and the picturesque parque del retiro.
