Rollercoaster Through Hotel = What?! (Hotel and Casino New York New York (Las Vegas, USA))

New York New York was one of my favourite hotels to visit in Vegas and one that I would love to go back and stay in one day. It was fun right from the very moment you walk up to it and going inside it has a really unique look and atmosphere which puts it as unique amongst the Vegas hotels. A true sight to see and here is why.

Location
The New York New York hotel and casino is located in what I would call just out of the centre of the strip but not on the end. It is within walking distance of any Vegas hotel on the strip and we were staying the other side of the centre and it took us a few hours to walk there whilst looking in ever hotel on the strip which is not too long really.

It is in a good location though as it is right by the MGM Grand, the Luxor and by the Hard Rock Cafe so there are quite a few things to see in that area so you won't mind taking the trip down there. It is accessible by car and taxi and some hotels have free shuttle buses to take you between the hotels so you may be able to save time and energy that way.

Appearance
All I can say about the New York New York hotel and casino and its appearance is wow!! You walk up to it and I had heard it was huge but nothing can prepare you for how big it actually is.

The first thing you notice is it looks like there are loads of high rise buildings and you at first cant make sense of it. Then when you look again you notice that they have tried to recreate a part of the New York skyline so all of the buildings are tall and have classic New York Look. They even have a replica of the Empire state building which is amazing! I couldn't stop staring at it.

Then you look again and there is the statue of Liberty right outside which is huge and looks ace and there is even a massive roller coaster going around the whole hotel. In short it looks so brilliant and it is by far the craziest looking hotel in Las Vegas.

Ok so lets go inside and tell you about everywhere.

The Hotel
The first thing to say is about the hotel part. Now we didn't stay at the New York New York so I can't tell you what the rooms are like but what I can tell you is when you stay here you stay in a tower so the empire state tower for instance. There were lifts which had those names which was mad and you take your individual lift up to your room. This is so cool! The reception area is nice and the staff looked very hip and professional but from a room perspective that's all I can tell you.

The Casino
WOW!!!!! I loved the casino in this hotel as it looked amazing. I think it looks like it has a space theme as everywhere is like a purple colour then there are these cool blue strobe lights everywhere which twist and turn so look lovely. Then because it is quite a dark room, the lights of the machines are extremely bright but just add to the coolness of the room. That is the right word actually as the word to describe the casino is cool.

There are so many tables you can go and play on and slot machines are everywhere. There are also loads of exclusive rooms where the serious gamblers go and we spotted loads of TV screens in them so people must be playing around the world which is great to see. There are also a lot of tournaments that New York New York put on I think and they had one starting when we were there. I think it was about a $20 buy in to play.

All over the casino there is also massive screens which have stats on. I didn't understand these so if somebody would like to tell me what they were for that would be great. It looked cool though and made the room look even cooler.

Shops
New York New York has some pretty cool shops. My personal favourite was Bling which as you can imagine sold a lot of jewellery. I was so tempted to spend lots of money but managed to resist due to Dave pulling me away. Daves favourite shop was the Harley Davidson shop which sold some good stuff but it was so expensive.

There are quite a few shops that sell New York New York goodies which was cool and once again I had to be pulled away. The New York New York is huge though so you can spend a good couple of hours properly looking around the shops.

Arcade
To one side of the casino we noticed some escalators and went over and when we got up there there was a massive arcade. You collect these things called smileys and you can trade them in for goodies. This is nice because for the first time in Vegas I thought children would love it here as it does seem to be a very adult place with all of the casinos and everything. And there was lots of kids here having fun and I even donated one of my smileys to somebody who was very happy.

The Rollercoaster
Unfortunately we didn't go on it but we were speaking to people who had and they said it was fantastic and the funniest thing they had been on for a long time. It is a cool rollercoaster that if you aren't scared to look gives you some great views of Vegas and you could constantly hear screaming form people on it. The reason we didn't go on it is because it was $15 each which I thought was expensive and Dave doesn't like roller coasters so we gave it a miss. Looks cool though!

Eating
We chose to eat in a great American diner upstairs which sold pizzas and burgers and all sort of fast food like that. Our pizza and drinks cost us $12 which is not bad and it was yummy. There are a couple of quick eats around in the hotel though so you have a good choice. There are also as expected a couple of restaurants and it seems the obligatory steak house in the hotel. Some of them are quite expensive though and I am talking going up to about $150 for a meal I can imagine so check menus and prices before you walk straight in to somewhere and ordering.

Other
Other things I have to tell you about the hotel is that they of course have a theatre show called Rok Vegas and then they also have a Coyote Ugly bar how cool is that! The big show they have is a Cirque du soleil production which I can imagine is very good. We didn't see anything here but by Vegas standards I bet they are all great!

The Hotel also has a pool for guests and even a spa so you can get some treatments done if you have time and fancy it. There is also a golf course at the back of the hotel apparently which would have been quite cool. Seriously these hotels are just crazily big!


Conclusion
New York New York just looks amazing and is a huge hotel with big name shops, restaurants and a cool theme with the rollercoaster. People should come and see this hotel just to see how big it is and although I know its not the biggest on the Vegas strip it certainly did seem like it. It really is a New York theme place and looks great so go and see it.
