New York New York
I used to live in Los Angeles so went to Las Vegas a lot!! I lived there from 21 to 27 so the perfect years to have fun in Sin City. One of my favourite hotels to stay in was New York New York. Here you get the best of the big apple without actually having to go to New York at all.
Inside the hotel you find find that most of it is themed to be like a stroll around the streets of New York. There are bright lights, cool bars and restaurants and it just has a really cool fun vibe about it. This is why I like it so much. Obviously it's not a patch on the real New York city but for a bit of nostalgia it's great. One of my favourite bars in the New York New York casino is The Nine Fine Irishmen which is a really cool Irish bar selling all your favourite beers. I have spent many a fun night here and the beauty of Vegas is that time is no barrier to fun. There are no clocks in the casinos and the artificial light keeps you going throughout the day and night as you never really know what time of day it is anyway. The hotel has stereotypical New York food on sale such as lots of pizzerias, hot dog stands and pretzel stands, enough to keep you full ready to party the night away.
The Roller Coaster is one of the scariest I have been on. It's an inside/outside roller coaster so you firstly start inside the casino and then go onto the track outside. You can obviously see this part from the strip as it is a red roller coaster intertwined with the building and the Statue of Liberty. At one point on the track outside the track is so thin you really think you are going to fall off. Outside also features the heart line twist where you are virtually turned upside down, exhilarating but really quite scary. According to the information on the roller coaster it lifts you up 203 feet and drops you down 144 feet, racing around at about 67 miles per hour. The roller coaster costs $14 but is well worth it and if you go at night its a lot more fun as you get a really nice view of the strip.
Like all major Vegas hotels New York New York has an amazing pool where you go to see and be seen. As I'm not a high roller unfortunately I cannot comment on the suites at the hotel but the regular rooms are always very clean, well equipped and reasonably priced if you book early enough and go for a deal. The last time I was here was in 2008 and I would classify this hotel as a medium priced hotel, nicer than say the Flamingo or Tropicana but not as nice as say the Bellagio or MGM hotel.
The gaming floor and casinos are as impressive as ever. All the games that you want to play are here and are available 24/7. The hotel is conveniently placed on the strip so its easy to walk from one hotel to another and really enjoy the other sights but to be honest you could spend all your time here and have a really fun time.
