 ... huge and spacious but very minimal but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious The maid service was second to none and the room was well maintained and looked after for us. The restuarant and bar area was very modern and had an array of food choice and drinks. This was my first visit to Amsterdam, and I went online to find the best deal and the Hotel Arena was the most appealing to me. A quaint but modern hotel which was formerly an Orphanage and has been renovated to a contempory standard. Upon arriving at Shilpol airport I got a mini bus which was very cheap and took just over half an hour to get to. The hotel offers a warm atmosphere with a historic feel as many of the features of the hotel have been maintained and modernised. I've stayed twice at this hotel now and would certainly go back. It's very different in apperance to other hotels i've stayed in as it is a converted orphanage. From the outside it's quite gothic in apperance and that continues as you enter the main reception. Quirky artwork lines the walls and staircases as you walk in but then there is also the very trendy bar and restaraunt serving a wide range of food and drinks. The rooms are very minimalist but spacious, clean and warm. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the hotel is generally very quiet. I say generally because there is a nightclub on the complex.
