Advantages: Very trendy clean and reasonably priced serving good food

Disadvantages: out of town and can get noisy on the weekends

I've stayed twice at this hotel now and would certainly go back. It's very different in apperance to other hotels i've stayed in as it is a converted orphanage. From the outside it's quite gothic in apperance and that continues as you enter the main reception. Quirky artwork lines the walls and staircases as you walk in but then there is also the very trendy bar and restaraunt serving a wide range of food and drinks. The rooms are very minimalist but spacious, clean and warm. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the hotel is generally very quiet. I say generally because there is a nightclub on the complex. This can mean some noise on the weekends as the club hosts some of Amsterdams biggest club nights. The hotel is situated about 15 minutes tram ride from the centre of Amsterdam and will cost you around 1.3 euros for a ticket. You will need to get the number 9 or number 14 trams.
