Hotel rooms in New York are notoriously small so the first thing that must be mentioned about this hotel are the rooms. The building was once an apartment block which Best Western bought and converted into a hotel. This means that for the price of a standard room you get an amazing deal. Our 'suite' consisted of a large lounge, a large double bedroom with wall-to-wall fitted wardrobes, a good sized bathroom with bath and shower and a kitchen. The bedroom had its own tv and was spacious enough that had you needed a rollaway bed to fit 5 people in the suite then this would be do-able. The lounge had a sofa bed, a large table and four chairs for dining, an enormous tv, two coffee tables and a writing desk. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances, fridge freezer, kettle, microwave and even a breakfast bar. The suite was immaculate and the hotel had even left bottled water and juice in the fridge and coffee and biscuits on the side. The only negative about the apartment was the view- next door building- but unless you stay across from Central Park or overlooking the Hudson then your view is never going to be amazing. The hotel provided a free Continental breakfast which consisted of fruit, cereals, pastries, bagels, eggs and freshly made waffles. The breakfast room has an additional outside terrace which is small but the children found it cool to be eating outside. The staff were all super-friendly and helpful and the children were made to feel like VIPs! Location-wise the hotel was perfect. If you like wandering around Manhattan then you are well placed. It is a 10 minute walk to the Rockerfeller Centre (much better than the Empire State Building), 20 mins walk to Central Park, 5 mins to 5th avenue and 15 mins to Times Square. There are metro stations 5 mins away and bus stops on the cross streets. We normally stay in the Embassy Suites in New York but decided to try this due to its price and we were really amazed by the value. I have stayed in a number of hotels in the vicinity and this is by far the best for a family.
