Advantages: Within easy walking distance of Levante Beach.

Disadvantages: The public rooms can be a bit noisy

From 31st October until 7th November 2006 we stayed in the 4* Dynastic Hotel in Benidorm, Spain.
We booked our flights with the low cost airline - Globespan - and allowed them to book the hotel and transfers from airport to resort and return.
They made the bookings through Hotelbeds.com
The cost of a seven night all inclusive stay at this hotel was £323 for two, staying in a standard twin/double room - I believe this cost was achieved as we only booked our holiday one week before departure (The flights and transfers were additional costs).
The hotel is situated in the Rincón de Loix area of Benidorm and is about a five minute walk from Playa de Levante.

Reception and Checking In

The Reception Lobby is very minimalist and modern. Lots of leather sofas with large wooden coffee tables. There are multi language newspapers available for guests to read.
There's also a stand with tourist brochures of things to see and do in the area.
The 'feel' of the lobby is oriental with quite a lot of large decorative bamboo stalks, the predominant colour scheme is orange with the addition of brown and cream.
We arrived at the hotel around 13.00 and didn't really expect our room to be available so we were pleasantly surprised when after about a 10 minute check in process, and a request from us for a 'high floor' room, we were given two plastic key cards to room 609.
It was explained to us that these cards operate the electricity supply in the guest rooms, need to be shown to the Maitre D to gain entry to the restaurant and are required to be swiped through the cash tills to obtain 'free drinks' as we were staying on an all inclusive deal.
We were given directions to the lift which best served our room - this happened to be one of the two panoramic lifts which afforded spectacular views of the surrounding area - there were three lifts in total serving the guest rooms.
There were two members of staff on duty at the reception area when we arrived and we didn't see any less than this number at any time during our stay - on occasion there were three or four members of staff - this was necessary at busy times.

Guest En Suite Bedroom

Entry was swift and easy and once we'd popped the keycard into its little slot to operate the electricity we checked the room out and unpacked our cases.
The room was adequate for a couple, not over large but spotlessly clean.
We had huge twin beds which were pushed together - each one must have been at least 3'6" wide, they were extremely comfortable as were the pillows.
Hubby and I like two pillows each and extra pillows were provided upon request.
The other furnishings in the room were:
Bedside cabinets, dressing table, luggage table, two chairs, wardrobe and a full length mirror.
Also supplied was a multi channel TV, a fridge, a direct dial telephone and a safety deposit box.
Our room was fully air conditioned and this was controlled from within our room.
The colour scheme in the room was muted creams and beige - we found this very restful.
The lighting in the room was not particularly good, there were only two bedside wall lights and two ceiling spots - most definitely mood lighting.
The bed linen appeared to be changed every second day.
There were double glazed sliding doors to our balcony which was furnished with a plastic table and two chairs. There was an ashtray here, which suited hubby as he does enjoy his cigarettes…..me, well, since you've asked….it's over a year since I stopped smoking……
The ensuite bathroom was a reasonable size, perfectly adequate for two and furnished with a four piece bathroom suite with overbath power shower. The room was protected from the shower spray by a glass screen.
Loads of fluffy white towels, bath mat and toiletries were supplied and changed/replenished daily.
A hairdryer and electric razor point were in this well lit and extremely modern bathroom.

The Restaurant

The buffet restaurant is down one level from the reception lobby, but this is not the basement , this is in fact the garden and pool level.
All meals and snacks are served in the restaurant, it is bright, modern and has a very pleasant atmosphere. This is probably due to the fact that, although this is a buffet restaurant people were not dashing around, but actually seemed to be enjoying leisurely meals.
Outside of meal times snacks are available here until midnight.
The choice of food was enormous, varied, well cooked and well presented.
I don't think that anyone could possibly go hungry as there appeared to be something to suit every possible taste and there were chefs cooking 'on demand' at all meal times.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner had hot and cold choices to suit most nationalities as this hotel does cater for a truly multi national clientele.
There's a small bar in the restaurant, from which you can obtain drinks to accompany your meals.

Lounge Bars

There are two bars in the hotel (apart from the restaurant one) - The Piano Bar and the Pool Bar.
The Piano bar is what it says…and…it is adult only. It doesn't open until 8p.m. which didn't bother us but perhaps some might find this restricting.
It's a very large wood panelled room which is not dominated by the grand piano, the resident pianist was exceptionally good and was happy to attempt most musical requests.

The Pool Bar was accessed from both inside the hotel and from the grounds beside the outdoor swimming pools. The inside lounge had an area where occasional entertainment shows are staged and where guests can dance to music provided by the hotel's resident entertainment team.
Tea and coffee are available from both bars and children (adults as well, if they wish) can get ice creams and ice lollies from the Pool Bar.

Spa and Gym Area

This is located in the basement area and is truly excellent for a hotel facility.
There is a large heated swimming pool with a Jacuzzi adjacent, a steam room, a sauna and a fully equipped gymnasium.
There is a programme of keep fit, Pilates, relaxation etc. Full details are available and reduced rates are on offer for hotel guests.
A Beauty Salon is also located in this area….it offers hairdressing, massages, slimming treatments (probably necessary after overeating in the restaurant), sun beds etc.
