      Very helpful

Come here if you want sun, sun and more sun!

Sun, Sun and More Sun at the Ledra Beach Hotel, Paphos, Cyprus

The Hotel Iberostar Ledra Beach is a wonderful four star hotel located on the beach front in Paphos, Cyprus This is a hotel that I would love to return to as I had a wonderful time here and felt as if I was living a life of luxury, due to the excellent service given at this hotel.

My husband, myself and our sixteen year old daughter arrived here one afternoon in August last year. On arrival at the twenty-four hour reception we were immediately served with an ice cold soft drink, brought to us on a tray by a waiter, while we were checked in. This was very welcome, especially as we were travel weary and thirsty from our travels. I thought this a lovely touch to the start of the holiday and really set the scene for the holiday.
The check in service was speedy and efficient. Our all inclusive bands were put around our wrist. I asked if mine could be attached loosely as choose to wriggle out of it of a night time and in the shower.

We were politely informed that our room would be ready in about ten minutes so why not take a seat in the air conditioned reception area/bar, whilst the porter/bellboy took the luggage to our rooms. We were seated and immediately a waitress appeared. My husband was served with his first beer of the holiday. Fuel!!!
We gazed around and I was astounded by the spectacular view from the cocktail/lounge bar. This was up a level so through the glass frontage palm trees and the sparkling Mediterranean sea spread out on the horizon, as far as the eye could see. Paradise!

After about ten to fifteen minutes we were told that our room was now ready. We finished our drinks and then made our way to our room. We had a sea view room with two large single beds and a smaller single bed. It had tea/coffee making facilities, television, safe at an extra charge and mini bar/fridge. This was stocked, free of charge to all inclusive guests, throughout our two week stay, with soft drinks and bottled water It was replenished every other day and one can also fill it with your own drinks, if required. Small plastic bottles of mineral water were supplied free of charge to all inclusive guests at all bars.
White towelling bathrobes were supplied and towels had been folded into a swan design and placed upon the beds. During our stay maids would fold my daughter's nightdress into cute designs. As well as having this artistic flair they worked extremely hard and were friendly and helpful.

The two large single beds, pushed together were comfortable but the single bed wasn't as good. Also it blocked the balcony somewhat. This room for two would have been lovely but for three it wasn't four star standard. The storage wasn't great but was better than at many hotels I have stayed at. Although the room was adequate a little refurbishment would mean this hotel would be near to reaching a perfect status. The rooms were as good as any I have stayed in in Cyprus but the rest of the hotel was of a higher standard than the rooms.

The bathroom was of the usual standard of these holiday hotels. Everything worked. The shower wasn't very powerful but was good enough to provide a decent shower. A hair-dryer was fixed to the wall, which worked well but I prefer to use a hair-dryer in the bedroom area. A good supply of toiletries was provided and added to as needed. Tissues were provided along with shower gel and shampoo etc. The bathroom had a good sized worktop giving room for toiletries brought with us.

The room was kept clean whilst we were there. Sheets being changed every few days and towels daily, if left in the bath. The towels were of a god quality and the supply was always good.

The air conditioning worked very efficiently.

We requested extra clothes hangers and pillows and these arrived within half an hour. Throughout the stay if we needed anything in the room, such as a new light bulb this was speedily seen to. I found the service in this hotel the best I've come across, so far.

We unpacked, changed into our swimming gear and with sunscreen used, found our way to the poolside. As it was late afternoon we managed to find a couple of sunbeds. Usually you would have to get up early to secure three. About seven a.m., although beds can still be found after this on the grassy area leading to the beach or on the beach. Sunbeds were comfortable and plenty of parasols were available also. The pool looked extremely inviting and on entering we found it to be as warm as a bath.
The main pool in this hotel is lovely. It is quite large and deep. Children used this pool but tended to stay around the large stepped area if not competent swimmers. Games took place around, and in, this pool during the daytime. There was also an small adults only pool and a children's pool and a very welcoming, due to its temperature, indoor pool The indoor pool was cooler and lovely at times.

      Snacks/ Drinks

After a quick dip we went and had a snack. The choice of meals or snacks was good. Help yourself to jacket potatoes with various fillings e.g. cheese, tuna chilli con carne, various delicious pizzas, ( just take a slice or two) salads and daily choices of things such as mini pasties, chicken, fish, burgers etc. You could choose to go inside to the restaurant, if decently attired, for lunch, and help yourself to a three/four course meal.

From about ten o'clock a.m. snacks are available. One could choose to have a snack and eat this by the pool if using paper plates.

Then we had a leisurely drink at the beach bar . This is glorious. A lovely sea breeze, friendly bar staff and a good choice of cocktails, spirits and soft drinks. You can serve yourself from the drinks dispenser, if you wish, with water, cola, orangeade etc. The all inclusive lager was the local Keo and Holsten. My husband was happy with the choice. Service was good.

The table tennis table is in this outside area.

The Ledra Beach Hotel is wonderfully beach front. The beach is quite small and sandy but, be warned, unless you're tough you will want beach shoes on when getting into the sea. However, there are beaches and coves all along this area where you can choose a better spot. Some of these bays (within walking distance) were almost empty. The sea is warm, as Cyprus in August is extremely hot.

A good choice of water sports is available. It's always worth haggling here for a good price. My daughter and husband participated in a few water sports and I was always welcomed to go as a passenger in the speedboat. This provides a great opportunity to take great photos and is enormous fun.

We showered and dressed for dinner. I wouldn't say it was particularly 'posh' at this hotel with quite a range in dress from casual to dressy, but men are required to wear long trousers for dinner and to cover up bare chests whilst eating in the restaurants at lunch time. I think this is right and makes for a better ambience.

On entering the restaurant you can find your own table but if you hesitate a waiter or waitress will soon find, or prepare one for you. Wines aren't great but adequate. One serves one self from dispensers of red or white and there is a good choice of soft drinks. These are of a good quality.
The soups are lovely and usually suitable for vegetarians. Always plenty of salad, a vegetarian corner, and the main buffet always has a fish choice and meats and vegetables. There's a carvery and a show cooking section. Desserts were good with delicious Cypriot cakes, jellies, fruit, cheese and biscuits. I didn't usually manage dessert!

I would say the food was good as was the choice .Better than other places I've been to but I always find with all inclusive that it does get a bit samey during the second week.

Then to the entertainments area which is an outdoor theatre. I would have preferred tables and chairs rather than stone benches. It was a bit awkward not having a table for drinks. I wouldn't leave mine on the ground as there were some rather large ants marching about. A minute from here is the beach bar where drinks are available in plastic glasses to take to the theatre, if you wish. (Inside the hotel the glasses are of 'glass.'

The evening starts with the usual kids club disco followed by the bingo, which is hilarious. Then the show which, if undertaken by the animators is also very funny. They are an incredibly talented crew. Sometimes the entertainment consists of an act brought in from outside. The outside entertainment ends around 11.30 p.m. when people usually drift to the beach bar and get to know each other, or upstairs to the cocktail lounge. All inclusive drinks continues until midnight.

The animators lead by Danny at the Ledra Beach, were the best I've come across . Not only were they funny, friendly and hard working but I thought very professional and careful to act properly around teenagers. I often find animators/reps 'act up' and encourage flirty behaviour from youngsters, but here they got it just right and I was very impressed. They invite everyone to join in with games, such as beach volleyball, pool games etc but always take no for an answer. Also they talk and mingle with all guest not just the large groups

I asked if they were doing karaoke would my daughter be able to use her own backing tracks. As they didn't plan karaoke I was told that my daughter would be welcome to sing on stage. After a sound check they expressed their surprise at her standard and she was invited to sing many times. What impressed me though was the lovely way that her singing was incorporated into the evening's entertainment and she was actually thanked for her contributions and awarded a half day cruise. Often my daughter sings to great feedback but here the way it was done was particularly 'special' .

This is a good hotel for weddings, couples and families with children, or young teenagers. It's fun but never rowdy, or not during our stay at least. I got the impression that if anyone was likely to cause any trouble that the hotel staff would quickly deal with this.

It has a hairdressing/ beauty salon, small gym, games area, children's pool, indoor pool, small adults pool and pool where the games take place. Various bars, all being all inclusive. The facilities are excellent and I could go on remembering more but hope in this review that I've conveyed what a lovely place this is and that it really is worth a visit.

Before booking I would suggest checking with the hotel and travel company but I believe this hotel wouldn't be too bad for those with mobility difficulties. It is served with lifts and most of the hotel grounds are paved. Some of the street area on the front of the hotel are uneven but much of the rear of the hotel and along the beach is paved and this was being extended. Please check first to be sure that this is a good choice of hotel if you have any special needs or requirements.

I found the all inclusive option at this hotel to be excellent. It was available from all bars all day and evening. The drinks and food were of good quality and easy to get. Queues were never long at any bar.

This hotel is in a lovely location being beach front. it has just a few shops and bars nearby but an evening out is best spent at Paphos harbour.

It isn't in the liveliest part of Cyprus so if you want to be 'in the thick of it' you need to stay closer to the harbour. However travelling is quite easy in Cyprus, although the heat can deter one from going too far too often.
Transfer times from the airport at Paphos will be from around thirty minutes to one hour depending on over drop offs and pick ups.

I can't stress enough how lovely this hotel is. We had a brilliant holiday. Although the rooms were a little jaded this hotel still had a luxurious feel to it, owing to the fabulous standard of service and politeness of staff. This was true throughout the hotel from cleaning and maintenance staff, animators, waiters and waitresses and reception clerks. Service throughout was excellent and the best that I have come across in a Mediterranean hotel.
      I booked through Direct Holidays.

Bear in mind that if you stay here in the summer months it will be relentlessly hot and sunny!!!
