This hotel is traditionally a business hotel and it is located in Mongkok at the top of Nathan Road. We had been traveling for a couple of weeks so wanted to stay somewhere pretty luxurious when we got stopped over in Hong Kong for a few nights. The hotel itself is part of a mall, and so is really easy to find on the tube from the airport and is surrounded by shops, restaurants etc. It is close to a lot of the nightmarkets and also the park but I would recommend a taxi to get to the harbour when going out on a night.
I had upgraded to a club lounge and therefore when we got there we got directed to the club reception where there were no queues and we could check in straight away. Our room was not ready however they did show us up to the club lounge (which was included in our upgrade) and we could stay there until our room was ready. This was fine with me, the club lounge is basically one giant freebie!! Breakfast, followed by brunch snacks, lunch, afternoon tea, canapés, desert with free drinks including champagne 24 7 what more could a girl ask for!!!! The lounge is also on the 36th ish floor so you can get a great view of the city especially at night from the glass walls and you can see down to the harbour and (only just) see the laser show on a night.
When shown to our room it was lovely, a huge bed (v important after trekking for a few weeks), walk in shower, huge bathtub and more importantly bubble bath!!. The view wasn't great but then again you are in a huge city so it was never going to be that fab, but the rooms are just so comfortable and everything you could possible want is catered for.
There are all services associated with a 5* hotel, and when you upgrade certain things are included such as lounge as already mentioned, dry cleaning etc, so for the slight extra...UPGRADE!
There is a pool on the top floor, which is ok to swim in providing there are no kids splashing about, but there is no view up there, just the smog. We also tried the restaurant downstairs, and that was delicious they do a great buffet selection as well, which we didn't try as not too hungry but this looked like the option to go with. The staff were all excellent and we felt that they were genuinely interested in our trip and making sure we had a good time. Sometimes when walking into establishments like this when you have been trekking for a while and you're still a bit grubby I get the feeling of being looked down upon until I get in the shower!! I did not get this feeling here. Mongkok is not as great to stay in as Kowloon however this hotel was fabulous and was exactly needed for a wind down after a hectic few weeks.
