Hotel Maritim (Mauritius)
Advantages: All inclusive the way to go
Disadvantages: need more sunloungers by pool
My fiance and I have recently come back from a holiday in this hotel.
We spent ten days of pure luxury there and have never experienced anything like it.
We booked this hotel on line through Hayes and Jarvis for a cost of around a total of £3200.00 all inclusive.
Mauritius on the whole is a very poor country and as you drive north from the airport for about an hour it is very apparent. The hotel is situated on the northern west coast of Mauritius.
On entering the hotel there is security gates and up its long driveway you are immediately struck at how green and well kept the gardens really are.
We were immediately greeted and our bags/ suitcases carried by the porter and seated in the beautiful reception area which is open at both ends and over looks the sea. It is plushly decorated and immediately you notice the cleanliness of the hotel. We were then served a non alcoholic cocktail and checked in.
There are a variety of rooms available and we were lucky enough to have an upgrade. The beds are literally huge and there are exquisite soft furnishings and decorations throughout. The bathrooms have separate large walk in showers and freestanding baths, two hand basins as well as WC. There is a huge amount of storage space and safe also available free of charge. Wi fi, colour tv, tea and coffee making facilities as well as a payable mini bar. Fresh fruit is also available on arrival.
The restaurants consist of a main buffet style restaurant with different themes every night and a huge variety of food. The quality is excellent and you can help yourself to as much as you like. There are salads, rice, many different meats, main courses, potatoes, vegetables, breads, puddings, cheese etc etc.
There are also two a la carte restaurants, although I cannot comment on those.
The main bar is the quarter deck bar where drinks are served until 1am. There is also another bar on the beach. Service from both is very good.
The hotel is situated right on the beach with sun loungers, parasols, waiter service, water sports (some payable) and unfortunately local beach sellers, who do make a nuisence of themselves if you let the! The beach is pure white and the sea is crystal blue.... totally idylic.
The pool area is clean and well equipped although they do need a larger pool as it can be difficult to get a sun lounger after ten am! Also the pool does need a little heating in the winter season.
However, the parasols are large, the sun loungers unbelievably compfortable.
You are certainly not overwhelmed by the entertainment. The majority happens between 9pm and 11pm where by there is a variety of live singers and dancers who are very good.
There are many facilities at the hotel which include gym, sauna, jacuzzi, beauty treatments etc
An excellent holiday to relax and rejuvinate!
