me and my husband stayed here last year in May, we were a bit uncertain as we first of all booked a hotel just down the road and then found out it wasnt very nice, so we read some reviews and opted for this hotel. most of the reviews were pretty good but of course there were some complaints still about noise and clenliness. however we opted for this one inthe end due to location as it is located between disney and international drive and ran free shuttles to disney world. on arrival we felt very welcomed and you can see that they take pride in their image as everything was very clean and tidy. on the site there are three hotels, one of standard, then a middle one and then of course the more expensive business class one. we stayed in the middle hotel. on site they also have a walk way with shops on either side, selling luggae bags and several food chains including a very nice pizzaria and also a tastey sub place. prices are what you would expect slightly higher than average but not too expensive. we were very supirsed by the size of our room, it was very spacious with a kitchen area with a fridge and kettle to store food. there was then a seating area with comfortable soft chairs before entering the bedroom which again was very large with a double bed and enough space to move around freely.
The breakfast was also very good, a continental breakfast was offered which was all you could eat and offered, cereal, waffles, eggs, yogurts, fruit, bakery products along with tea, coffees and juices. i would recommend you get down to the breakfast early though as it did get quite busy after around 8:30/9am .
the location of the hotel itself is quite good and i would recommend staying here if you want to stay away from crowded hotels with children as they tend to stay more near to the disney parks than at this hotel. they put on a free shuttle service to the disney parks which is very useful although by taxi it is only about $9 one way. to get to international drive we walked up to the shopping complex which was about a 15 minute walk where we could then catch the i-ride bus up international to seaworld, aquatica etc for universal studios we caught the main bus which again was from the same place. we did find that after a day walkign aroudn the parks when we got back to the bus stop we didnt feel like walking back the hotel so we did get a taxi a few times and worked out that you always need to ask how much before egtting in, this would then cost around $5 if you didnt ask it could cost up to $15. there was also a swimming pool available outisde which you could only get to if you were staying in the hotel which meant it didnt get too busy, which being quite a small pool was a good thing, there was also a jacuzzi again quite small for the size of the hotel. all in all we had a great stay here and would certainly stay again as the location was pefect for what we wanted to do.
My husband and I recently got back from a holiday to Florida and I thought I would share my experiences about the hotel we stayed at. The name of the hotel is the Fairfield Inn & Suites on Vineland Avenue.
Hotel Lobby & Reception Area
The hotel lobby is very light and has quite a comfortable feel to it there are a few tables and chairs along with a nice sofa style seating area. On checking in we were greeted by friendly and helpful man on reception who told us some places we could go nearby if we wished to eat. He explained what time our complimentary breakfast was which was very helpful we were also given a leaflet with the info on too.
We needed to get a safety deposit box so the next morning we asked about obtaining one, the boxes were free but they are kept behind reception. We had the choice of either a small or large security box, we opted for the larger one so I could keep my Kindle in it.
There was a tea and coffee making facility in the lobby which was complimentary this was very handy and I thought a nice touch.
We were given a room with a pool view however there was no balcony but then none of the rooms had balconies. This is only a minor thing as after all we didn't go all that way just to sit in the hotel room all day. When I first walked in I was shocked by the very large flat screen TV along with a fridge and a microwave. There were also coffee making facilities with plenty of coffee with a choice of Decaff or Original. If you required teabags they had them down at the coffee station in the lobby.
There were two queen size beds which were very comfortable with lovely plump pillows. The bed had a very thin duvet and sheet for covering and the bedding was very clean and the sheets were of good quality and weren't scratchy at all.
The bathroom had a great power shower which felt great after a long day in one of the many theme parks. It was a very clean bathroom with no marks or mould etc. We were given four towels between my husband and myself which was ample. This impressed me as the most you normally get is 3 max, there were also hand towels and flannels at the sink area. The amenities that we were given were Pantene shampoo and conditioner along with facial soap and hand soap.
I know when they say free breakfast it has already been calculated into the price you pay so I never expect miracles when you are told something is free. However I was very surprised with the quality of the breakfast on offer. There was plenty of choice such as bagels, bread, yogurts, corned beef hash, beef patty's, scrambled egg and fresh fruit etc. There was also tea, coffee and various fruit juices to choose from. The breakfast area did get quite busy but we could always find a free table to sit at and you never had to queue to get to the food. The other great thing about the breakfast was that there was a waffle station so you could make your own waffles with maple syrup. YUM!
The pool area was located through the main lobby and you needed a room key to access this area which I thought was a good idea to try and keep the pool area a little more secure. There were plenty of sun loungers available and there were also a few table and chairs some of which were in the shade. The hotel provided towels for use in the pool area and these towels were of fairly good quality, they were very comfortable to lie on and were not scratchy. There was a nice environment around the pool area as there were no litter or debris and the pool was very clean.
The pool itself had wide steps that led you into it and even though it was a little bit cold to begin with it soon warmed up and swimming was very comfortable.
Restaurants In The Area
There is quite a bit of choice in the surrounding area for restaurants many are within 10 minutes walking distance. If you like to walk then the Downtown Disney area is quite a bustling place to be at night but it is a 35-40 min walk from the hotel. The Crossroads Dining and Shopping Area is about a 15-20 min walk and you will find TGI Fridays and McDonalds etc along with a supermarket called Goodings. With this being nearby it is a perfect place to come at night as it is a nice place to walk to. There are also a few restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel like Bahama Breeze and various steakhouses.
Below are a couple of theme parks we went to and I have wrote down roughly how long it takes to get there and the prices.
Universal Studios is about 20 minutes away by car and we used a Mears shuttle bus which was $38 return for two people.
Discovery Cove took about 10-15 minutes by taxi and cost $15.
Bush Gardens offer a free coach transfer but you do have to walk a good 30 minutes to the pick-up point outside Publix Supermarket.
The hotel offers a free shuttle to the Disney parks just inquire at Reception.
This hotel is in a fairly decent location for dining choices and also quite central to get to all the theme parks in the area. If you are not too bothered about the theme parks then the pool is a great place to spend your day. The reception staff are both helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean and fairly spacious with great amenities such as a fridge and microwave.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to people wishing to stay in the Orlando area.
