I recently ended up spending two nights in Montreal on either side of my onward travel plans. I'm not a particularly fussy traveller and besides a nice clean room and the availability of room service (which I prefer when travelling alone) I didn't really mind what the hotel was like as long as it fit my budget. Which, by the way, is "as cheap as possible without being a total seedy dive". Luckily for me Expedia had the Omni Mont-Royal in their sale, which worked out significantly cheaper than lower-starred hotels in worse areas which had not been reviewed so favourably. Result!
