Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: No resturant
In November 2007 my boyfriend took my on a surprise trip to Rome.. We stayed in the Romanico palace..
As soon as we pulled up at the hotel I loved it!!! The entrance is so grand, it has marble floors and gold plated finishing touches! The check in was swift and easy! The man on reception gave us a map of the area and said if we need anything please just ask.
The lift. Well I know it sounds silly but the lift is amazing, it has a big plasma screen inside with a video playing of Rome and different attractions to go to. It has no "proper" lighting, its all spotlights on a black ceiling! It was very glamorous.
The rooms are lovely and big, you don't get much of a view as you just look onto a main road. The bed is a queen size, very comfy with 4 pillows. The décor in our room was of a red and gold theme. It has cream walls with red & gold paintings. In the room there was a dressing table and chair also which was quite handy for my make up! It had a TV too, to be honest I couldn't tell you what channels was on because I think we only switched it on once!
The bathroom was a great size and had a bath/shower which was quite big. The shower was a power shower which you could adjust to your liking. On the walls was also little holes where water would come out from too (don't know if they have a name?). There was also a big sink which had shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel and a shower cap on the side! I took them home with me!
When it came to the end of the trip our flight was at 9pm but we had to be checked out of our room by 11am. On that morning we packed up and went down to check out. We expected to have to leave our luggage in the lobby of the hotel until it was time for our transfer. We was wrong, the man on reception gave us a raffle ticket and two stickers which had the same number on them. He asked as to put them on the suitcases, we did this and he them called a bell boy who came and took our cases into another room. All we had to do when we got back was hand in the raffle ticket and he would go and get our cases, which he did with no problems.
The only problem I did have was that the hotel didn't have a restaurant, you could only have breakfast there but not lunch or dinner, but with so many places in Rome it wasn't really an issue. Where you have breakfast is in a room at the top of the hotel which had lovely views across Rome. Breakfast there was to everyone's choice they really did have a bit of everything, I personally stuck with the pancakes!!!
The official rating of this hotel is 4 stars but I would defiantly say it was heading towards a 5 star.
The location is central, within a short distance from Termini Station, Veneto Street, villa Borghese and from the main historical monuments of Rome, making the ROMANICO PALACE HOTEL a strategic spot very easily reachable. (From the website)
Summary: Would Definatly go again!!
