Advantages: Great Price, Great Location, Snazzy Decor!

Disadvantages: Bed was two singles pushed together

These days, finding and booking a hotel is incredibly straight forward. Searching on the internet gives you so many results, but with this choice comes the difficulty of coming to a descision. Especially when there are so many reviews of hotels by different guests who had different experiences.

Most people are after a cheap hotel, but as soon as there is any mention of uncleanliness or dreaded 'bedbugs' (I am glad I have NEVER seen these) most people I would imagine would steer clear.

Firstly, all the other reviews I have read about the Hotel Soft have been pretty positive, and I myself had an excellent experience when I stayed here in June 2008.

Firstly the hotel is in an excellent location, a pleasant stroll down to the river Seine takes about 20 minutes and the Metro station is a 2 minute walk away. Rue des Vinaigriers is a quiet street between 'Place De La Republique and the pretty Saint Martin Canal village.

The hotel itself has also been recently refurbished to a high standard. The bathroom was clearly new and the bedroom was a trendy pink colour with one feature wallpapered wall. There is also a wall mounted LCD television and the bed was very comfortable.

However, the 'double room' was just two single beds pushed together with a single set of sheets over. Every hotel I have visted abroad seems to do this, which is annoying for me - but I am not sure I can complain about it. It's just the way it is!

Studying, what effects the price of hotel rooms in Paris, it seems that location is the main factor that influences price, with quality second. For a rock bottom Euro50 a night you might find a reasonable hotel on the outskirts and in a questionable area. A cheap hotel in the central districts seem to cost around Euro85 a night. However we paid Euro105 a night for a quality hotel in the heart of Paris. We shopped around a great deal and this seemed to be excellent value for money, and no hotel we saw had the quality of room that this had within the price range.

Also, the staff were friendly and the rooms were quiet. We were also able to leave our luggage there before our return train in the evening.

Summary: I would definitely recommend this hotel - use search engines to find the best price

Great review. i think they use two single s to make a double as most Paris stairwells are too narrow to carry a double up.
