Advantages: Wonderful service, Fantastic breakfast
Disadvantages: We only stayed 3 nights :(
This is literally one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, and here's why : The rooms are immaculate and spacious. They are all en-suite and come with TV (and video if you request it). I booked with Cresta holidays through Thomas Cook (and therefore got a discount - read the TC opinion to find out why) and we were placed in a Superior room at no extra cost - these are even bigger and have an extra sofa too. All rooms also have hair dryers and mini bars, and unlike in some places I've stayed, there is a comprehensive price list in the minibar so you can find out what everything costs brefore you indulge. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed whenever you wanted (they had a 'Green' German system - if you wanted your towels changed, you left them on the bathroom floor, otherwise you hung them up. A nice environmentally friendly idea as often you don't need fresh towels every day.) I'm easily impressed and so loved this cool "arranging your nightdress" thing they didu which meant a nice surprise on returning to the hotel each night. (For my mother at least - it made me wish I'd not brought my Winnie The Pooh PJs as there's not much you can do with them....) Prices start from DEM 200 (around £60 ) per room including breakfast, and what a breakfast it is! I picked this hotel over others in the brochure as it claimed to have 'the most extensive buffet breakfast in Berlin' and I was not let down. Each morning there was a wonderful choice of different types of bread (white and brown sliced, rolls, croissants, pretzels) and different cheeses and cold meat. There were a million types of jam (ok, I'm exagerating, but only a little) and a variety of yoghurts and fresh fruit. They also offered hot foods such as bacon, mushrooms, sausages and boiled eggs. They had cereals (note the plural) and a number of beverage choices including tea, coffee, milk, hot chocolate and different types
of juice (orange and one other, such as grapefruit or apple each day). They also had a platter of mini chocolate bars and biscuits - guaranteed to please any child (and me, the chocoholic)! The staff were extremely couteous and muli-lingual which is always a plus. They offered advice on places to go and things to see, and in every room there was a long list of recommended local restaurants (since the hotel itself only served breakfast). My mother and I tried a couple of their recommendations and, again, were not dissapointed. There are facilities for photo-copying and faxing in the hotel, and a place to leave your luggage if you have an evening or night flight. They have a small bar and an even smaller lift (the kind that makes you wonder if you'll get out alive - but at least it works) The hotel is located on : Alt-Moabit 89 10559 Berlin Tel 030-391 30 04 which is great and central. There's an underground stop (Turmstrasse) about 2 mins walk away, and busses to and from the airport stop on the doorstep. All in all, it was a great place to stay, and I would recommend it to anyone.

- 12/07/02 Good op. Just a warning, Buzz now fly to Schönefeld Airport rather than Tegel so it's a train ride to the central stations rather than a bus ride. Not sure which other UK airlines fly to Berlin (no cheap ones, certainly) and whether they still go to Tegel. |

- 26/07/01 Good op, and well worthy of being "refreshed".
