I went to Dubai last June (2008) with my wife for our honeymoon. When we arrived at the airport in Dubai, and looked out of the window on the plane, it looked hot, and sure enough, as we exited the airport for the 20m walk to our luxurious taxi that heat really hit us hard! Upon getting into the taxi though, the normal ice-cold air conditioning soon sorted us out, and the two chilled bottles of water that the taxi driver handed to us also helped! The drive to our hotel was about 45 minutes, and the whole journey was spent cruising along the motorways past thousands, and thousands of tall state of the art office blocks and apartments. We arrived at our hotel the (Jumeriah Beach Hotel), and could not believe how enormous it was. The driver grabbed our cases, and escorted us to a fantastic lift, and took us up to the Executive lounge, where we sat down in some leather chairs, and were offered a complimentary drink, while we checked in. Then it was off to the room, and what a room it was! It was bigger than most people's houses, and an awesome view of the pools, harbour, and the 7* Burgh Al Arab. We spent a week there, in total luxury, the people at the hotel could simply not do enough for you, for example, one day we headed for the executive pool, and on choosing our location for the day, I was just about to put up the umbrella, and lay the towels out on the sun lounge's, when one of the pool attendants, came running over, saying 'please sir, I will do that for you'. Within a few minutes of him completing the task, another fellow wandered over to us with complimentary ice-lollies, and then came back a few minutes later to take away the wrappers, and sticks. On top of this there was a guy who made his way over to us a little later with a huge water container strapped to his back, and sprayed us down with ice cold fine mist of water. It is pure heaven! Summary: well worth it if you can afford a visit! |
