Advantages: great views, great hotel, right next to beach, great food and drink...I could carry on!

Disadvantages: small pool, breakfast quite expensive

The Caleta Hotel in Gibraltar is like my second home. I have been going there with my family every year for about 12 years and I love it. So much that I got married there in the beautiful garden! The rooms are lovely and I'd definitely recommend paying the extra for a sea view as when you walk out onto the balcony you look down and you are literally right over the sea. The view is amazing at sunrise and sunset. The rock views can also be good though as you might catch sight of some monkeys or may even have some sitting on your balcony! The breakfast buffet is great with toast, cereal, fruit and hot food (eggs, bacon, etc.) although a little on the expensive side at £8.50 per person each morning. The bar also serves food all day so if you just want some toast for brekkie it's much cheaper to get it from here. They also do lovely jacket potatoes and sandwiches and other dinner meals for reasonable prices. The swimming pool is only small but if that's full you can use the hotel's private steps that take you right down onto the beach.

For my wedding there, the events coordinator was great and helped me sort everything out. The food was amazing and the hall we had it in at the hotel was just perfect.

The Caleta is on the quiet side of the rock but there's some great restaurants and bars along the beach just a couple of minutes walk away. The bus into town goes past every 20 minutes so it's easy to get to and from town. Although a cab ride is really cheap anyway.

I'd definitely recommend staying at the Caleta if having a visit to Gibraltar - I know people that have stayed in a few other hotels and they all think the Caleta is the best choice. I wish I could go back more often!

The link for the hotel's website is http://www.caletahotel.com/. Good deals can also be found on mygibraltar.co.uk.

Prices are quite high at between £70 to £200 a night depending on when you go and what type of room you have. Generally all the of the hotels in Gibraltar are quite pricey but I'd personally pay more to stay at the Caleta.

Summary: My second home and I love it
