French Riviera is NOTHING Compared to This! (Hotels in Italy in general)

Last fall my husband and I had the opportunity to go to Italy for two weeks. During the course of the trip, we crossed the Alps and spent a few days in France (since I was born there). On the way home, we drove south to the coast and followed it back to Italy in order to see some of those famous French Riviera spots that we'd heard so much about over the years.

Unfortunately, we were very disenchanted by each one because of the commercialism, crowdedness and ugliness of the areas we saw. There was no serenity, peacefulness, romance or beauty left.

Then, we crossed the border back into Italy. We'd been encouraged to go to Porto Fino so we decided that that would be our stopping point. Prior to hitting the port though, we found Rapallo, a quaint, beautiful town on the coast.

Being late at night and very tired, we parked in front of the first hotel we saw, Hotel Italia and went in. The young lady at the desk was very helpful and kind and gave us a room looking over the water (it was only $5 more than a room facing the city).

We went to the room and opened the drapes, which led out onto a balcony. The view was stupendous. We were greeted with a rising moon shining over a medieval castle on the waterfront. The sound of the surf crashing against the shore made for a perfect romantic evening.

My husband and I went down to the restaurant and had one of the tastiest seafood dinners I ate during my time in Italy. The waiter was kind enough to bring us fresh glasses when we asked for a bottle of wine to take to our room with us.

Needless to say, I very highly recommend Hotel Italia in Rapallo Italy to anyone who is visiting the country.
