Advantages: Good place to go

Disadvantages: Its a bit expensive and flights are a pain

Im off to Las Vegas in 11 weeks time on honeymoon.
I cant wait.
We have both been looking forward to the first leg of our honeymoon for some time and it has always been a dream of mine to experience the state of Nevada.
Las Vegas is not the only home to Casinos and posh hotels in the middle of the desert state. Nearby Reno is full of the same sort of thing.
It may not be as famous or as developed but appartently its a growing city with plenty to do.
Another casino town is Laughlin. It to is growning fast and has a rich history as the Boomtown on Nevada.
Here there are plenty of cultural pursuits such as Riding, Fishing, Golfing and Watersports.
You must also remember the national parking in the state. The Grand Canyon runs through it and a flight or bus journey there for the day may cost up to £150 but it is well worth it so I have been told.

Lets not kid ourselves, most people are here to gamble and visit Vegas so here is a guide to some of the places to visit in the town.

The famous strip is where you will find most of the big casinos and hotels.

Ceasars Palace
--------------
Ceasars Palace is a huge hotel with a Roman theme. One of the most famouse of hotels holds many big events such as boxing and concerts. Elvis was playing here many times leading up to his death.
you also have one of the best casinos around " in house" here.
Much of Rome's splendour has been recreated outside with large columns and pools in the grounds. A nice place just to visit while you are here.

The Excalibur
-------------
The Excalibur hotel is a bit cheaper to stay in than Ceasar's but equally as good. It has a "knights of the round table" theme to it and looks like cinderellas castle from outside. It also has a in house casino and many restaurants. A good hotel at a good price. Friends of mine have stayed here.

Sahara Hotel
------------
The Sahara Hotel h
as less rooms than the two above but it is very nice, if a little more expensive and has a Moroccan theme. You can njoy dining at their Mexican Bar and Grill, watching the nightly entertainment or lounging at the pool. Sounds good to me.

Belaggio
--------
How about a nice modern hotel?
Opened in October 1998 the Bellagio is landscaped on a hillside with a 10-acre lake and is furnished with art masterpieces. Get to look at famous paintings from days gone by! Guest rooms are elegantly decorated with custom European-style furnishings. First class shopping, restaurants and wedding chapel on site mean you can tie the knot here too!
We are doing that before we go.

Mandalay Bay
------------
Another new hotel is the stylish Mandalay Bay Resort, with a South Seas theme, features a 30,000 sq. ft. top of the line spa, 11-acre tropical water lagoon with a sand-and-surf beach, a lazy river ride, a variety of pools and Sports & Entertainment Complex.

These are just 5 we looked at before choosing the Excalibur, purely on recommendation. There are loads more without listing them but its really trial and error.

The only downside to going to vegas is there are no direct flights other than going with Virgin. This limits you to using other airlines if you intend to travel around the USA once you are there.
We are going with United airlines and flying onto San Fransisco and then Hawaii before coming home!
I shall report back after my trip.

Lots of info, but not the personal experience for a VU. I look forward to the update and hope you have a good honeymoon!
