... near the dive school, well away from the bar which is very noisy on karaoke nights. The rooms are not far from the main area of the island and although not the most plush in the world, the room was comfy, had great air con and was clean. Our room was meant to be cleaned daily but our room boy was ill on the first 2 days although it wasn't going to be dirty after such a short time there. Afterwards the room boy swept through every day, changed the linen and cleaned the loo. The only problem with the room wasn't really a...more

Crowned Review Hotels in Maldives: Meedhupparu: A Pearl of a Resort (3364 words)

INTRODUCTION My husband and myself originally considered going to the Maldives for our honeymoon. After all, when you think of the Maldives, you imagine white beaches and crystal waters in isolated splendour, perfect for romance. However, we decided against it in favour of the Caribbean, mainly because we were worried about the intense sun (I burn easily) and because, frankly, we were worried that we might get bored sitting on a beach for two weeks. I wasn’t sure that I would enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving, and that was all that I had heard that there was to do in the Maldives. Ironically, on honeymoon we both caught the diving bug. We didn’t ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Club Faru: Best food I've had ever and lovely and clean. (1150 words)

In August 2007 we went the the Club Faru resort for our honeymoon. We flew with First Choice as the hotel is part owned or have exclusive UK booking through them. The Flight from Gatwick took just over 10 and a half hours and was not the best flight ever. The First Choice stewards were not great and considering the liquid restrictions placed on flights, only your small juice or coffee were included in your price, small (and I mean tiny cans) were 60p each! No water or anything else supplied. When we did try to get served, most passengers were asleep so the crew weren't busy and we could see them talking and ignoring the call light and buzzer at their station. ...  Read the complete review

Maldives Holiday Island I visited the Maldives last September and found it amazing your holiday starts when you are landing you look out your window and you can see all of the islands scattered with the torquoize seas surrounding them it was out of this world! After we landed and found our rep we got a speedboat to our island. It took us about 2 and a half hours which was a bit tiring after a 10 hour flight from London but it was all worth it when we got to our island(you can get a seaplane to take you there for about £100) When we arrived the staff were really helpfull they took our bags off the boat and brought them to our room we gave them a tip as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Paradise, No other words for it (956 words)

We visited the maldives in the summer of 2000 (I know, a long time ago). Looking through every big brand travel agent took hours and after long consideration we thought we'd go back to the island of majorca. The price would be £3950 for a family of four on half board, flights included but no car included. Then amongst all the online operators an advert suddenly poped up for the island of ari beach in the maldives. The pictures were to die for. It all looked as if it would cost a bomb. But being curious we clicked on the add and ended up in the kuoni website looking at a holiday that would cost £3750 for the family including flights for half board. This ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hotels in Maldives: Put me in an island?! Yes, Please! (228 words)

If I ever get stranded on an island, which one will it be?! Well, it'll have to be somewhere in the Maldives. I have travelled to many countries and come from the Far East originally but settle in the UK, this place is truly paradise and hard to believe place like this still exists. Me and my husband went to the Kurumba resort for our honeymoon for 1 week, on the room only basis because we want to sample all the restuarants with 7 to choose from. We were greeted by cold drink and a warm welcome by all the staff as soon as we landed by speedboat to this island which is only 5 mins ride from the airport! The service from the staff are excellent through out and believe ...  Read the complete review
