During the course of my stay in Mauritius, we went to tour some of the hotels since I had a lot of American and Mauritian friends who were spending their holidays in a couple of hotels up the coasts of the island. I must say that whatever coast is the hotel on, they all boast of the same white dreamy beaches and turquoise lagoon. I went to Mauritius on my honeymoon in November 2007 and absolutely loved it. We stayed at the Movenpick Hotel in the South of the Island. When we arrived at the airport we were picked up by someone from the hotel who drove us back. This was organised at the time of booking and was something that they offer to every hotel guest. We also got a lift back to the airport at the end of the holiday. The drive was interesting, the island produces a lot of sugar cane so most of the fields you could see were full of sugar. I am fortunate to have had the pleasure of visiting Mauritius a handful of times. This country will surprise you, relax you and leave you with long lasting memories. Whenever I think of Mauritius I think of crystal clear waters, beautiful tropical birds, dance, music, delicious food! In Mauritius you will find many different people from many different backgrounds, you will find people with European, African, Indian and Chinese backgrounds. I do not recommend to stay in Port Louis (the capital), although is nice to visit for shopping, but I recommend to stay either in Flic en Flac (very quiet and romantic) or if you prefer a more lively ...
