Within walking distance of the city center, close to train, tram and underground stations, and barely 2 minutes from Theresienwiese (location of the Oktoberfest beer festival), the Four Points Munich Central is ideally located for almost anything you could possibly want to do during your stay in the city. I booked because I had decided that everyone should stay at a Sheraton at least once before they turned 21. Dahhling. Four Points is a sub-brand of the Sheraton chain, and as such provides a consistently high level of service worldwide. Located in a quiet, pretty residential street of South Kensington, Blakes does not go out of its way to advertise itself. It doesn’t have to. With only 52 rooms, this has become a fashionable hideaway for celebrities, and it’s easy to see why. The hotel was designed by Anouska Hempel and each of the rooms is based on a different theme, each a little fantasy world. The library looks like something out of the British Museum! Four poster beds, heavy drapes, rich colours and marble bathrooms –it’s a shame you only get to see the room you stay in. The restaurant has a good reputation and is open until midnight. The Kempinski is linked by a tunnel to Munich airport, which is home to a shopping precinct so if like me you have to be there for meetings for a few days you could feasibly never see open skys! I had a series of meetings in the Kempinski a short while ago, by first impression the hotel was impressive, a big hall like glass atrium with these masive greenhouse style plant holders dominating the reception/bar area, a little like the Heathrow Hilton if you've ever been there.
